A. Water Heater Location
Close to area of vent.
Indoors and protected from freezing temperatures.
Proper clearance from combustible surfaces
observed and water heater is not installed on a
carpeted floor.
Air supply free of corrosive elements and flammable
vapors.
Provisions made to protect area from water
damage.
Sufficient room to service the heater.
B. Water Supply
Water heater completely filled with water.
Water heater and piping air vented.
Water connections tight and free of leaks.
C. Gas Supply
Gas line equipped with shut-off valve, union, and
sediment trap/drip leg.
Approved pipe joint compound used.
Minimum pipe size of 3/4"; NO flex pipe.
Recommended a minimum of 10" WC inlet
pressure for natural gas.
Soap and water solution used to check all
connections and fittings for possible gas leak.
Gas company inspected installation (if required).
D. Relief Valve
Discharge line run to open drain.
Discharge line protected from freezing.
E. Venting
All pipe connections are secure (at blower, vent
terminals and for each pipe joint connection), and
all pipes properly supported.
Vent terminals mounted properly in allowed
locations, with proper clearances .
F. Condensate
Condensate trap installed and primed.
Condensate neutralizer installed (if required).
G. Wiring
Correct power supply (120 VAC).
Electrical connections are tight.
Water heater is properly grounded with proper
polarity.
