Its whats inside that counts!
Richmond Electric Water Heaters
Hot Water Outlet
The connection point for the hot
water service piping, which carries
the hot water to faucets and other
hot water xtures or appliances.
Electrical Junction Box
The water heater is completely
wired to the junction box inside the
jacket at the top of the water
heater. An opening for 1/2” or 3/4”
electrical tting is provided for
wiring connections.
Upper Heating Element
and Thermostat
Heating elements are surrounded
by water and transfer heat to the
water. The thermostat controls the
element to maintain water at the
desired temperature. The upper
element operates only when the
water in the upper portion of the
tank cools, providing an extra
heating boost. Richmond 9 and
12-year Water Heaters feature
stainless steel upper resistor
elements for longer life and greater
resistance to lime build-up. They
also resist burnout due to dry
ring.
Rigid Foam Insulation
A thick layer of rigid polyurethane
foam insulation helps minimize
heat loss.
Lower Heating Element
and Thermostat
Heating elements are surrounded
by water and transfer heat to the
water. In two element water
heaters the lower element does
most of the water heating.
Drain Valve
Allows tank to be emptied for
service.
Heat Trap Nipples
All Richmond electric models
feature energy conserving heat
trap nipples. They create a gap
preventing conductive heat loss to
the hot and cold service pipes.
Temperature and Pressure
Relief Valve
Commonly referred to as the “T&P
valve – this safety device opens to
allow water to escape from the
water heater in the unlikely event
that either the tank pressure or
temperature become excessive.
Cold Water Inlet and Dip Tube
The connection point for incoming
cold water. The inlet connects
directly to a dip tube which directs
the water to the bottom of the
tank, closest to the heat source
and the thermostat, which will call
for heat when the temperature
drops.
Anode Rod
The anode rod, a replaceable
component made of magnesium,
protects tank against premature
corrosion. By “sacricing” its own
material, it helps preserve the steel
tank. All Richmond 9 and 12-year
models are equipped with our
patented heavy-duty resistor
anode rods, far superior to those
used in competitive models.
Glass Lined Steel Tank
Richmond’s steel tank with a
porcelain enamel coating resists
the corrosive effects of hot water.
EverKleen
®
Self Cleaning System
The patented EverKleen System
creates a turbulent swirling action
as water enters the tank. It ghts
sediment build-up, helps improve
operating efciency, helps improve
tank life and improves hot water
delivery. Featured on 9 and 12-year
models only.
