Changing the Light
Metering (PHOTOMETRY)
You can change the metering method (the
range to use for metering) to determine the
exposure value. There are three Light Meter-
ing Methods available: MULTI, CENTRE, and
SPOT.
MULTI (No Symbol)
The entire shooting range is divided into 256
partitions, and subjected to photometry for
overall decision.
CENTER( )
The light metering is determined by a mea-
surement of the whole, with the central part
emphasized.
Use this when the brightness of the center
and surroundings are different.
SPOT( )
Light metering is determined by measuring
only the central part.
Use this setting when you want to use the
brightness of the center. It is useful if there is
marked difference in contrast or backlighting.
By default, your camera is set to Multi.
To select light metering method, follow the
steps below.
1. Turn the mode dial to 5

The Shooting menu appears.

between displays as required.

Light Metering Method setting is com-
plete.
7. If you pressed the #

press also the M

M button.
The Shooting Menu closes and the spec-
ified value is displayed at the upper part
of the screen.
This setting will be used for shooting until
you change it.
