Follow the procedure below to check the position of the subject
on the LCD monitor and adjust the focus.

LCD monitor

Shooting scope
Position your subject in the middle of the LCD monitor.

Autofocus field
This is the field in the middle of the LCD monitor, as
shown in the figure, within which the focus is
automatically adjusted.

Shutter release button
The shutter release button works in a two-step action.
●
Press halfway
When you press the shutter release button lightly
(halfway), the autofocus function is triggered and the
camera is focused on the subject.
Adjusting the Focus
• The dotted lines and shaded
area indicated on the LCD
monitor are for explanatory
purposes only. There are no
actual dotted lines or shaded
area.
Note
• If the autofocus LED blinks,
the subject is out of focus. If
this occurs, use the focus
lock function. See “Focus
Lock Shooting” (p.44).
• If the [SLOW SHUTTER]
message is displayed, take
care to avoid moving the
camera as the shutter speed
will be slow. You are also
recommended to use the
flash. See “Flash Mode”
(p.50).
• If [!AE] is displayed, the
image is overexposed, but it
can be recorded by pressing
the shutter release button
fully.
