Fax Problems
When You Cannot Send or Receive Fax Messages As Wanted
Transmission/Reception
Problem Cause Solution
Both transmission and
reception are impossible.
The modular cord may be
disconnected.
Make sure the modular cord
is correctly connected. For

Transmission
Problem Cause Solution
Document appears blank at
the other end.
The original was placed upside
down.
Set the original correctly. For
details about how to set
originals, see page 62
"Placing Originals".

Reception
Problem Cause Solution
The Data In indicator lights up
and the received document is
not printed.
The machine cannot print because it
is out of paper or toner.
• Load paper into the tray.
• Add toner.

Printing
Problem Cause Solution
Print is slanted. The tray's side fences might not be
locked.
Make sure the side fences are
locked. For details about how
to set the side fences, see
page 41 "Loading Paper".
