8.4 Cutting table for work piece (anvil)
The cutting table for the work piece or anvil has
several functions:
• to maintain the distance between the cutting
edge of the work piece and the cutter,
• counter plate for the cutter so that this will
carry out a clean cut,
• absorbing any vibrations and avoiding
excessive wear.
In many cases, the quality of the cut depends on
the shape of the cutting table and the work piece.
It is recommended that the manufacturer of the
sonotrode also produces the cutting table since he
will be more familiar with the requirements of
the application.
