1 Introduction This manual provides instructions for converting gas types on Rinnai I-Series Condensing Boilers. For installations in Canada, the conversion shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the provincial authorities having jurisdiction and in accordance with the requirements of the CGA-B149.1, Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code. To The Installer • A trained and qualified professional must perform the gas conversion for this boiler.

(2.61 kPa) Gas Supply Pressure Natural Gas: • Minimum: 3.5 in. W.C. (0.87 kPa) • Maximum: 10.5 in. W.C. (2.61 kPa) Propane Gas: • Minimum: 8.0 in. W.C. (1.99 kPa) • Maximum: 13.5 in. W.C. (3.36 kPa) Input Rate The input rate can be verified by following the procedure in the National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA54/ANSI Z223.
4 Conversion Instructions WARNING Failure to correctly assemble the components according to these instructions may result in a gas leak or explosion. CAUTION The gas supply shall be shut off prior to disconnecting the electrical power, before proceeding with the conversion. CAUTION Do not touch any other areas on the PC board other than the described buttons while power is supplied to the appliance. Parts of the PC board are supplied with 120 volts AC.
2. Replace the Orifice 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Confirm that the inlet gas pressure is between the minimum and maximum pressures allowed for this boiler. Disconnect electrical power to the boiler. Turn off the boiler’s gas supply by turning off the gas control valve. Remove the boiler’s front panel by removing the four screws that secure the panel. Locate the orifice cover plate on top portion of gas valve (Figure 1). Remove the three screws securing the orifice cover plate (Figure 1).
3. Adjust Parameter Settings 1. Locate the PC Board (lower left side of unit) (Figure 3). 2. Locate the red button on the PC Board (Figure 3). 3. Press and hold the red button for five seconds (Figure 3). Figure 3 PC Board Press Red Button for Five Seconds 5 Red Button 4. Press the Mode button on the controller. Press the (Up) or (Down) arrows to select A0. 5. Press the Select button. 6. Press the (Up) or (Down) arrows to select the appropriate gas type.
4. Check Operation 1. Check the normal operating sequence: a. When you press the ON/OFF button, the LED display will illuminate, the combustion fan will begin to run if water is flowing, and the spark will ignite the main burner. b. This boiler has an automatic ignition system. When the main burner has lit, the flame symbol for “in use” will glow red and the spark will stop. 2. Visual inspection of flame: a. Check that the burner flames are operating normally.
5. Conversion Rating Plate 1. Enter the required information on the conversion rating plate label (shown below): i150S 2. Affix the conversion rating plate label on top of the existing rate plate. DO NOT cover up the certification logos on the existing rating plate. DO NOT place label over certification logos. Place new rating plate label on top of existing rating plate. 6.

A. This appliance does not have a pilot. It is equipped with an ignition device which automatically lights the burner. Do not try to light the burner by hand. B. BEFORE OPERATING, smell all around the appliance area for gas.

1 Introduction Ce manuel instruit sur la manière de convertir les chaudières à condensation au gaz Rinnai de série I. Au Canada, la conversion doit respecter les exigences des autorités provinciales ayant juridiction, et les exigences du Code d'installation pour le gaz naturel et le propane CGA-B149.1. Installateur • Seul un professionnel qualifié et formé doit effectuer la conversion du gaz de la chaudière. Une mauvaise installation annulera la garantie.

4 Instructions pour la conversion AVERTISSEMENT Un manque à bien assembler les composantes conformément aux instructions risque d'entraîner une fuite de gaz ou une explosion. MISE EN GARDE L'alimentation en gaz doit être coupée avant de couper le courant électrique et avant de procéder à la conversion. MISE EN GARDE Ne touchez aucune partie de la PCI autre que les boutons indiqués quand l'appareil est sous tension. Certaines parties de la PCI sont sous tension 120 VCA.

Coupez le gaz à la chaudière en fermant le robinet du gaz. Enlevez les quatre vis qui retiennent le panneau avant de la chaudière. Situez le plateau de l'orifice dans le haut du robinet de gaz (illustration 1). Enlevez les trois vis qui retiennent le plateau de l'orifice (illustration 1).
3. Réglage des paramètres 1. Situez la plaquette de circuits imprimés (PCI) (illustration 3). 2. Situez le bouton rouge sur la PCI (illustration 3). 3. 4. Vérification du fonctionnement 1. Vérifiez la séquence de fonctionnement normal : a. Appuyer sur l'interrupteur mettra l'écran DEL en circuit. Le ventilateur de combustion s'engagera si l'eau circule et une étincelle allumera le brûleur principal. b. Cette chaudière est dotée d'un allumage automatique. Une fois le brûleur principal allumé, le symbole de flamme s'illuminera rouge et la production d'étincelles cessera. 2. Inspection visuelle de la flamme : a. Vérifiez si la flamme du brûleur est normale.
5. Plaque signalétique 1. Inscrivez les renseignements requis sur l'étiquette de la plaque signalétique (voir ci-dessous) : i150S 2. Apposez l'étiquette de conversion par-dessus la plaque signalétique existante. Ne recouvrez pas les logos de certification sur la plaque signalétique existante. NE recouvrez PAS les logos de certification. Apposez la nouvelle étiquette sur la plaque signalétique existante. 6.
5 Instructions d'utilisation PAR SÉCURITÉ, LIRE AVANT L'UTILISATION AVERTISSEMENT Ne pas suivre exactement ces instructions peut causer un incendie ou une explosion, des dommages à la propriété, des blessures, voire même la mort. A. Cet appareil est sans pilote. L'allumeur allume automatiquement le brûleur. Ne tentez pas d'allumer le brûleur à la main. B. AVANT TOUT, sentez s'il y a odeur de gaz autour de l'appareil. Sentez près du sol car certains gaz sont plus lourds que l'air et reposeront près du sol.
