156 Customizing Phone Features
Activating the Infrared Data Port
Use this feature to activate the infrared data port on
your phone when you want to establish a wireless
infrared connection with an external device.
1. Follow the steps in “Getting to Phone
Setup...” to get to
Activate IR Port, and then
press
O to select. You will see Activating
Cancel?
.
2. Align your phone so that the infrared data
port on the phone is in direct line of sight with
the infrared data port on the external device.
Make sure that both infrared data ports are
within their effective range. You will see
Activated when the connection is established.
3. Press and hold
C to exit the menu.
Your phone waits for an infrared connection for up
to five minutes. If an infrared connection cannot be
established, and your phone is running on battery
power, the phone then deactivates the infrared
data port. Before deactivating, your phone emits an
alert tone and displays
Reactivate IR Port for ten
seconds. Press
O when you see this message to
reactivate the infrared data port.
If you move your phone out of effective range for
more than one minute when an infrared connection
has been established, you will see
Connection Lost.

Note: This feature will be available in the first
quarter of 2000.
Getting to Phone Setup...
1. Press M until you see Phone Setup, and then press O.
2. Press M to scroll to one of the features described below.
