to bring in fresh air and shorten curing time
of the adhesive.
Temperature:
Roberts 4002 adhesive is NOT freeze-thaw stable
and will be permanently damaged if frozen.
The Roberts 4002 adhesive and subfloor must be
at least 65°F (18.3°C) or higher if recommended
by the flooring manufacturer.
Before Installation:
Floor Condition:
The structurally sound subfloor must be clean,
dry and free of hydrostatic pressure, alkali, oil,
moisture, dust, paint, grease, wax and
cutback adhesive.
All substrate cracks, joints and uneven areas
should be filled with Roberts R-Krete 1440 floor
patch. Allow floor patch to dry for 24 hours
before applying the adhesive.
•Test any new type of flooring not listed above
first to ensure adhesive performance.
Coverage:
Roberts 4002 1 gal (using 1/8" bead) covers
approximately 700 lineal feet.
Cut Padding:
Pre-cut the carpet padding and lay it loosely in
place. Pull back the padding, around the walls and
seams, to expose the subfloor.
During Installation:
Apply Adhesive:
Using a crisscross motion, pour a 1/8" bead of
adhesive 3-4" from the wall and at the carpet pad
seams. Use a scrap piece of padding to smooth
out the adhesive to a thin and even coat.
•Allow the adhesive to dry for 10-15 minutes or
until nearly dry if applying between two
non-porous surfaces. Lay the padding into place
over the adhesive.
Apply pressure to the adhesive by walking over the
carpet padding along the seams and near the walls.
Install the carpet as recommended by the
carpet manufacturer.
When it is necessary to seam carpet, follow the
carpet manufacturer’s instructions for cutting and
sealing using Roberts 8015 Universal Seam Sealer
or Roberts 8415 Glue Down Adhesive.
After Installation:
Clean Up: Wet adhesive can be cleaned from tools
and flooring with warm soapy water using a clean
white cotton cloth. To remove dried adhesive from
the top surface of the carpet, use Roberts 1912
Adhesive Cleaner sparingly with a clean white cot-
ton cloth. DO NOT POUR CLEANER DIRECTLY
ONTO FLOORING.
For additional installation instructions not included
on this label, consult flooring manufacturer's recom-
mendations.
