3. DESCRIPTION
ROBERTS 5900 is a high performance, ready-to-use Type I Mastic for
installing ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, quarry and mosaic tile on floors
and walls. It may be used for countertop, backsplash and shower wall
installations, too. It spreads effortlessly, sets quickly and is easy to clean up.

Uses
For the interior installation of porous and semi-porous ceramic tile, porcelain
wall tile (up to 6" x 6"), mosaic tile and thin brick veneers.

*The trowel notches referenced are those typically recommended for the type of
flooring being installed and are shown as a guide. Consult flooring manufacturer
for their specific trowel recommendations.
Substrates
Concrete (well cured; on-, above- or below-grade), masonry, cement
backer board, cement mortar beds, cured Portland cement plaster, gypsum
wallboard, coated glass mat backer board, water resistant gypsum wallboard,
existing ceramic or resilient tile, plastic laminate, and association grade
(CANPLY/APA) exterior plywood. Plywood should not be used for marble tile
applications.
Limitations
Maximum wall tile size is 12" x 12" (5 lbs), maximum size for floor tile is 8" x 8"
(residential only).
Interior use only.
Do not use 5900 to install any type of ceramic tile fixtures, green marble
or lug back tile.
Do not use with glass tile.
Do not use this product with glass tile or glass mosaics.
Do not use where temperature will exceed 120°F.
Do not use this product in areas subject to water submersion, shower floors
or steam rooms. This product is not recommended in areas subjected to
prolonged/constant water immersion.
Materials and area temperature must be at a minimum of 50°F during
installation, as well as 48 hour before and 72 hours afterward.
Ensure adequate ventilation during flooring installation.
