The buttons on the remote can be used if you prefer. However the mute is only available when using the remote control.
Remote handset battery replacement 1. Slide the catch to the right hand side. 2. Remove the battery holder by pushing the holder in the direction shown. 3. Remove the battery from the holder. 4. Replace the battery (CR2025 or equivalent) ensuring that the positive side of the battery faces you with the holder positioned as shown. 5. Replace the battery holder. If the remote is not to be used for an extended period of time it is recommended that the battery is removed.
Using the radio for the first time 1. Place your radio on a flat surface. 2. Fully extend the telescopic aerial. The aerial should be fully extended and positioned vertically for optimum reception. 3. Plug the mains lead into the mains socket located on the back of your radio ensuring that the plug is pushed fully into the socket. 4. Plug the other end of the mains lead into the wall socket and switch on the wall socket. The display will show 'Roberts Enjoy Listening' for a few seconds.
Operating your radio 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on your radio. When first switched on, the radio will be in DAB mode. After each use the radio will remember the mode used and then switch on in that mode the next time that it is used. 2. If the radio has been used before, the last used station will be selected. 3.
Selecting a station - DAB 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. Repeatedly, press and hold the Source button until the DAB mode is selected. When the desired station name appears on the display, press and release the Select button to select the station.
Secondary services - DAB 1. Certain radio stations have one or more secondary services associated with them. If a station has a secondary service associated with it then the secondary service will then appear immediately after the primary service as you press and release the Tuning Up button. 2. To tune to the secondary service, press and release the Select button.
Display options DAB - cont d. Multiplex Name Displays the name of the DAB multiplex to which the current station belongs. e. Channel & Frequency Displays the channel number & frequency for the currently tuned DAB station. f. Signal error Displays the bit error rate for the currently tuned DAB station. g. Bit rate & audio type Displays the digital audio bit rate and audio type for the currently tuned DAB station. h. Time Displays the current time. i. Date Displays the current date.
Finding new stations - DAB From time to time, new DAB radio stations may become available. Or you may have moved to a different part of the country. In this case you may need to cause your radio to scan for new stations. DAB 1 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. If needed, repeatedly press and hold the Source button until the DAB mode is selected.
Manual tuning - DAB Manual tuning allows you to tune your radio to a particular DAB frequency in Band III. Any new stations found will be added to the station list. This function can also be used to assist the positioning of the aerial or the radio to optimise reception for a specific channel or frequency. Note that UK DAB stations are located in the range of channels 11B to 12D. DAB 1 DAB
Dynamic Range Control (DRC) - DAB The DRC facility can make quieter sounds easier to hear when your radio is used in a noisy environment. There are three levels of compression: DRC 0 No compression applied. (default) DAB 1 DRC 1/2 Medium compression applied. DRC 1 Maximum compression applied. 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on your radio.
Prune stations - DAB Over time, some DAB services may stop broadcasting, or may change location and then not be able to receive a station. In order to remove such stations from the DAB station list, the Prune stations function will delete the DAB stations from your station list that can no longer be received. Stations which cannot be found or which have not been received for a very long time are shown in the station list with a question mark. DAB 1 1.

Display options - FM Your radio has a range of display options for the FM mode:The Radio Data System (RDS) is a system in which inaudible digital information is transmitted in addition to the normal FM radio programme. RDS offers several useful features. The following are available on your radio. 1. Press and release the Select button to cycle through the various options. a. Scan sensitivity setting - FM Your radio will normally scan for FM broadcasts which are strong enough to give good reception. However, you may wish the Auto-scan function to also be able to find weaker signals, possibly from more distant radio transmitters. Your radio includes a local / distant option for the Auto-scan function. FM 1 FM
Stereo / Mono setting - FM Your radio will play stereo FM broadcasts in stereo provided that the received signal is of adequate strength. However, as a stereo signal becomes weaker the audio signal will become poorer. It may be preferable to force the radio to play the station in mono in order to reduce the level of background hiss. Presetting stations You may store your preferred DAB and FM radio stations to the preset station memories. There are 20 memory presets in your radio, 10 for DAB and 10 for FM. Presets are remembered by your radio in the event of a power failure. Recalling a preset station 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on the radio. 2. Repeatedly, press and hold the Source button to select either the FM or DAB mode. 3. Press and hold the Select button. The display will show, for example, 'PO1 (Empty)' if no station has been stored to that preset. Bluetooth mode The Bluetooth mode on your radio allows you to play audio, play sound from video files and stream music from Bluetooth capable devices such as your moblie phone, computer, tablet etc. through your radio's loudspeaker. 'Bluetooth pairing' occurs when two Bluetooth enabled devices agree to establish a connection and communicate with each other. When a Bluetooth enabled device such as your Blutune radio is in a 'discoverable' state other Bluetooth devices can detect, pair with or connect to it.
Connecting Bluetooth devices 1. Ensure that the Bluetooth capability on your phone, tablet or PC is enabled. You may need to refer to the user documentation for your device, since the method will vary with each device. 2. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on the radio. 3. Repeatedly, press and hold the Source button on your radio until the Bluetooth mode is selected. Your radio will show that it is 'discoverable' by flashing the Bluetooth indicator on the display. 4.
Playing audio files in Bluetooth mode When you have successfully connected your radio with the chosen Bluetooth device you can start to play your music using the controls on your connected Bluetooth device. 1. Once playing has started adjust the volume to the required setting using the Volume control on your radio or your enabled bluetooth device. 2.
Disconnecting a Bluetooth device You can only have one Bluetooth device connected to the radio at any one time although it may be paired with several devices. Once you have a Bluetooth enabled device connected to your radio it cannot be interrupted by another Bluetooth device unless you choose to break the connection. 1. To force a disconnection, press and release the Menu button on the radio. The Bluetooth menu will show on the display. 1 2 2.
Setting alarm time Your radio has an alarm which can be set to wake you to DAB, FM radio or beep type alarm. The alarm can be set to sound once, daily, on weekdays or at weekends. Note: The alarm can only be set when your radio is in standby mode. Note: If no buttons are pressed for 1 minute, your radio will exit the alarm setup. 1. If necessary, press and release the On/Standby button to switch off your radio. 1 2. Press and hold the Menu button. 'Alarm Setup' will show on the display. 3.
8. Press and release the Tuning Up or Down buttons to choose the desired alarm minute. 9. Press and release the Select button to enter the minutes setting. The alarm day option will flash on the display. • If your radio has been set to use the 12 hour clock format there will be an option here to set either AM or PM. 10.

When the alarm sounds The alarm will sound at the selected time for up to 60 minutes unless cancelled. The maximum volume used for the radio alarm will be specified during the alarm setting procedure. When your radio is set to wake by the radio alarm, your radio will switch to the selected radio station. If the radio cannot connect to the specified radio station, the buzzer will be used instead.
Snooze function 1. When the radio or buzzer alarm sounds, press any button other than the On/Standby or Volume buttons. This will silence the alarm for 5 minutes. Snooze 5 minutes O When the Snooze has been activated during an alarm, the alarm indicator will flash on the display. This sequence can be repeated during the 60 minute alarm period. 2. To cancel the Snooze function, press and release the On/Standby button.
Sleep function Your radio can be set to turn off after a preset time has elapsed. The sleep setting can be adjusted between 15 and 90 minutes in increments. Ensure your radio is switched on. 1. When using your radio, press and hold the On/Standby button and then release the button. 'Set sleep time' will show on the display. 2. Press and release the Tuning Up or Down buttons to select the desired sleep time. The sleep setting will increase in increments from 15 minutes up to 90 minutes.
Setting the clock format The clock display used in standby mode and when the radio is in use can be set to 12 or 24 hour format. The clock format can only be set while the unit is playing. The selected format is then also used when setting the alarms. 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on the radio. DAB
Setting the clock manually Normally your radio will set its clock automatically using the DAB radio signal. If no DAB signal is available and you need to set the time manually, please follow the procedure shown below. 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on the radio. DAB

Automatically updating the clock Your radio will usually set the clock time using the DAB signal. You may specify that the radio sets its clock from the DAB or FM waveband, either waveband or none. Software version The software version display cannot be altered and is just for your reference. Ensure your radio is switched on. 1. Language function Your radio can be configured to a different language. Ensure your radio is switched on. 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on your radio. 1 2. Equaliser function The sound on your radio can be adjusted to suit your personal taste for the material that you are listening to. The Blutune has a range of preset equaliser options. 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on your radio. 1 2. Press and release the Menu button. The menu will show on the display. 3. Press and release the Tuning Up or Down buttons until 'Equaliser' shows on the display. 2 4. Press and release the Select button.
System reset If your radio fails to operate correctly, or some digits on the display are missing or incomplete carry out the following procedure. 1. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on the radio. Press and release the Menu button. The menu will show on the display. DAB
Auxiliary input socket 1. Connect a stereo or mono audio source (i.e. CD player, MP3 player, etc.) to the Auxiliary input socket. 2. Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on the radio. 3. Repeatedly press and hold the Source button until the display shows 'Aux in'. 1 4. Adjust the Volume control on your player and on the radio for comfortable listening. 5. Remove the cable from the Auxiliary input socket or press and hold the Source button to cancel Auxiliary Input mode.
USB socket for iPhone or smartphone charging Your radio has a USB socket which is intended only for charging an iPhone or smart phone and similar devices. Charge time may vary and in some cases may take longer to charge than when using the manufacturers charging unit supplied with the smart phone. 1. Ensure your radio is plugged in. 2. Connect your smart phone to the USB charging socket at the rear of your radio. 2 3. Your iPhone or smart phone will begin to charge. 4.
Cautions Do not allow this radio to be exposed to water, steam or sand. Do not leave your radio where excessive heat could cause damage such as in a parked car where the heat from the sun can build up even though the outside temperature may not seem too high. It is recommended that the DAB band be used wherever possible as better results in terms of quality and freedom from interference will usually be obtained than on the FM band. • The name plate is located on the rear of the unit.
Mains supply The Blutune will operate from a supply of AC 230 volts, 50Hz only. DO NOT cut off the mains plug from this equipment. If the plug fitted is not suitable for the power points in your home or the cable is too short to reach a power point, then obtain an appropriate safety approved extension lead or adaptor. If in doubt consult your dealer. The wire coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal marked N or coloured BLACK.
