Compound Turning Routines
Chapter 24
24-5
Where : Is :
I K determinethe amount of stockto beremoved onthe finalpass of theroutine. The
actual amount of materialremoved onthis finalpass isequal tothe averageof the I
and K parameters ((I+K)/2). It is not necessaryto enter bothof these parametersin
the calling block. If only one is entered thecontrol useshalf of the entered
parameter value. The finalpass isoptional and does not need tobe programmed. It
is not aroughing passand it doesnot remove the finish allowance. A final passcuts
tool pathsthat are parallelto theworkpiece finishshape.
Important: This manualmakes theassumption that I andK areassigned in
AMP asthe integrandaxis namesthat correspond tothe Xand Zaxes respectively.
Important: The value assigned to I and K are alwaysincremental, radius
values regardlessof the current mode(radius/diameter or incremental/absolute).
Important: The system installer has theoption of forcinga finalpass tobe
made by setting theproper AMP parameter. If this isthe case, thecontrol cutsthe
final passregardless of whether I orK isprogrammed. When I andK arenot
programmed and the system installer has forceda finalpass tobe made, thecontrol
assumes I andK tobe zero.
D__ thedepth of cut for eachpass except thefinal pass. No signneeds tobe enteredfor
this parameter. The depth of cut for the finalpass isdetermined withthe I andK
parameters. D is alwaysan incrementalvalue regardlessof the current mode.
Important: It is possibleto overridethe programmeddepth of cut (D) using an
AMP parameter. The overridesetting ismade inincrements of 1%ranging from0 -
255%. See documentationprepared bythe system installer fordetails. The system
installer mayalso determinea maximum allowablevalue of Din AMP. If D is
programmed larger than theAMP threshold forD, the control overrides the
programmed depth and use theAMP assigned maximumdepth.
R__ usedto program theretract amount made after eachroughing pass. This retract
amount is anincremental, radius valuemeasured parallelto theX axis. Case 1
operations retract at a45 degreeangle tothe X axis andCase 2operations retract
parallel tothe Xaxis. This doesnot affect theprogrammed valueof R, as Ris
always measured parallel to X. If no valuefor R isprogrammed thenthe control
uses thevalue forthe retract amount set inAMP bythe system installer.
F__ Activefeedrate duringthe routineonly (seechapter 17)
S__ Spindlespeed duringthe routineonly (seechapter 16)
T__ Tool numberand tool offset tobe usedduring theroutine only(see chapter 19)
Important: Any F-, S-, orT-words that arein theset of contour blocks are
ignored when the routine is executed. If programmed in the G73block these words
replace any previously activemodal F-, S- or T-words forthe remainderof the G73
routine operation only. When theG73 routineis completedthe previouslyactive
modal F-, S-, andT-words arereactivated.
