Operation Manual

You have purchased one of the finest car-audio trunk box
subwoofers available today. RODEK bandpass subwoofers
are engineered and manufactured to set new benchmarks
of bass performance and technical reliability. Both available
subwoofer models are based on the “push-pull” compound
arrangement, i.e. two woofers that are mounted face to face.
The result of this unique construction is deeper bass with
more impact and higher power handling, compared to boxes
deploying one woofer only with the same net volume.
Both box models use MDF for the cabinet construction and
are equipped with RODEK RW12 woofers.
Please read and follow the provided installation and operating
instructions carefully, in order to benefit from the full sound
quality and performance of this high quality product.
Special Features:
Loaded with two or four RW12 push-pull subwoofers
Optimized for best low-end extension and high SPL
Large cross section ports with blue glowing „needles“
CNC routed MDF enclosure of compact dimensions
Carpet covered main enclosure with PA-painted front
Acrylic glass window with blue LED backlighting
Space optimized angled rear wall construction
Internal damping for best sound quality and bass impact
Spring-loaded terminal with separate 12V input
Placement Connection Settings
Basically, your trunkbox subwoofer is designed to be placed
in the trunk compartment of your car. The terminal binding
posts allow quick and easy installation or removal of the trunk
box – if necessary.
Only start crossover adjustment of the ampsor headunits
crossover lowpass filter, after setting „treble, „bass“ and „loud-
ness“ controls on the head unit to neutral/zero position.
Your bandpass subwoofer needs a low-pass filtered signal
with 12dB/oct. slope steepness for best results.
Connect the speaker wire of your subwoofer amp channel
to the terminal of the subwoofer box.
Set the lowpass crossover frequency of the amp channel(s)
driving the sub to approx. 80 Hz
Increase the input gain of the subwoofer channel(s), until
bass output is loud enough
Turn down the volume and then, try out both electrical in-
phase and out-of-phase polarity connections
„In-phase“ connection of your subwoofer is critical if your
sub plays out of phase, the output at the crossover frequency
region will be depressed due to cancellation effects.
Thus one connection polarity will give you a „fatter“ and more
dynamic bass reproduction in the 80Hz range.
In general, selecting a crossover frequency too low will yield
to an unprecise and infra-bass heavy bass sound lacking
punch, whilst setting the corresponding lowpass x-over fre-
quency point to high, will render a hard and droning sound
reproduction.
