3.2.2.3 Counting
Meas. type Symbol Description Graphic / formula Sources
Positive pulse
count
Number of positive pulses on the dis-
play. The mean value of the signal is
determined. If the signal passes the
mean value, an edge is counted. A posi-
tive pulse is counted if a rising edge and
a following falling edge are detected.

reference, digital
Negative pulse
count
Number of negative pulses on the dis-
play. The mean value of the signal is
determined. If the signal passes the
mean value, an edge is counted. A neg-
ative pulse is counted if a falling edge
and a following rising edge are detected.

reference, digital
Rising edge count
Number of rising edges on the display.
The instrument determines the mean
value of the signal and counts an edge
every time the signal passes the mean
value in the specified direction.
N321
Analog, math,
reference, digital
Falling edge count
Number of falling edges on the display.
The instrument determines the mean
value of the signal and counts an edge
every time the signal passes the mean
value in the specified direction.

reference, digital
3.2.2.4 Power Measurements
Power measurements require two sources, one voltage source and one current
source.
