The higher the category, the higher the expected transient overvoltage. Overvol-
tages can overload a circuit and cause electrical and physical damage. Therefore,
use the measurement instrument only in electrical environments for which the
instrument is rated.
The measurement categories correspond to the overvoltage categories of the
IEC60664 standards. Working voltages stated in context with measurement cate-
gories are always specified as effective voltages V (RMS) against earth ground.

Documentation Overview
The user documentation for the R&S RTH consists of the following parts:
Instrument Help
The instrument help is embedded in the instrument's firmware. It offers quick,
context-sensitive access to the complete information directly on the instru-
ment.
Basic Safety Instructions
This brochure provides safety instructions as well as operating conditions and
further important information. The brochure is delivered with the instrument in
printed form.
Getting Started
The Getting Started manual provides the information needed to set up and
start working with the instrument, and describes basic operations. The English
