Section 1 Intended Use INTENDED USE The SelectProtect™ is a safety enhancement system intended to aid in the reduction of patient falls and increase bed-bound safety. It is intended to be used without bed side rails.
Section 2 Warnings and Cautions WARNINGS CONTINUED FALL RISK: Properly trained and knowledgeable care givers should determine whether to use pads, additional bolsters, alarms, high-low beds, or other positioning aids and safety devices that are available on the market to reduce the risk of entrapment or falls. To reduce the risk of falls: • Ensure patient is properly immersed (Refer to Setup in the SelectAir Operations Manual).

SelectProtect Cover: The one-piece cover is composed of a top and a bottom section with a zipper on each side. The top section positions both the shoulder and foot bolsters in pockets. The bottom section positions the shoulder bolsters. Four straps are located on each side of the bottom section to secure the cover to the bed frame. B.

The bolsters are made of polyurethane foam. The bolster covers are nylon.
Section 5 Setup & Removal Instructions SETUP & REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS Prior to setup or removal of the SelectProtect, always: • Remove the patient from the mattress. • Turn the SelectAir control unit power entry switch OFF and unplug the power cord. Refer to the SelectAir Operations Manual for instruction. • Remove all linens, if applicable. To combine the SelectProtect with a SelectAir System, some disassembly and re-assembly will be required.
Section 5 Steps 5-6 Setup & Removal Instructions 5. Locate the SelectAir mattress hose fitting and feed it through the access hole in the bottom of the cover. 6. Press the mattress hose fitting into the fitting on the air supply hose. Steps 8-9 7. Place the top section of the SelectProtect cover over the mattress. 8. At the foot of the mattress, lift one side of the cover’s top section until the foot bolster pocket’s zipper is visible. The pocket zipper in on the underside of the cover top. 9.
Section 5 Setup & Removal Instructions 4. Insert the tapered end of a shoulder bolster into the pocket in the bottom cover section so it will be facing away from the bed. Steps 14-15 5. Guide the shoulder bolster into the top cover pocket while zipping the pocket shut. 6. Repeat steps 13-15 for the second shoulder bolster and then zip the cover closed.
Section 6 Cleaning and Disinfecting CLEANING AND DISINFECTING Note: • Cleaning and disinfecting are two different processes. To be effective, cleaning must precede disinfecting. • The SelectProtect must be cleaned, disinfected, and checked for proper functioning between multiple patient use. • Disassemble the SelectProtect before cleaning or disinfecting any of its components between patients. To clean the SelectProtect cover while in use: Wipe surface with pH neutral soap and warm water.
Section 7 Troubleshooting TROUBLESHOOTING Problem: Action: A Component of the SelectProtect appears flat or misshapen after setup or during use: • Check to ensure zippers are completely closed. • Check for tears or broken seams in pockets. • Check to ensure foam bolsters are properly inserted within appropriate pockets. • Check for loose components or visible damage to component or assembly.
Section 10 Limited Warranty Limited Warranty What Is Covered? ROHO, Inc. covers any defects in materials or workmanship of the product. Any substitutions of supplied components will void the warranty. For how long? 12 months from the date the product was originally purchased. What We Will Do. Within a reasonable amount of time after you return the product to us, we will repair or replace any defect in material and workmanship and ship it back to you, all free of charge. What We Will Not Do.
