Traditional Cross-Cut Engines
Paper is fed through the shredder opening.
The shreds fall into and pile up inside basket.
Ultimately high enough to touch the cutting
blades.
If a jam occurs, the engine rotation must be
placed in reverse manually. The blades grasp
the shreds from the basket and pulls them
back up blocking the shredder opening, which
must be cleaned before normal shredding can
resume.

Cross-Cut Engine with Smart Chip Technology
Paper is fed through the shredder opening.
The clog free rollers open to let the paper
pass through into the cutting blades.
If a jam occurs, the engine rotation reverses
automatically. The clog free rollers remain
closed which block the shredder opening. As
the blades pull the shreds from the basket,
the rollers divert the shreds around the top of
the blades and force them back down the
return chambers and back into the basket.
This keeps the shredder opening clean and
clear for the next shredding operation.
