ClickingtheEdit menu opens theEditModelmenu,whereyou canmakechangestothecurrently selected model.
When you make changes to a model in Phoenix, a “Variant” is created which holds the changes you have made.
These are stored in your My Documents / PhoenixRC / Variants folder so you can easily share them with other
Phoenixusers.
Variants appear in the Model > Change menu under the model itself and can be selected in the same way as
choosingthemodel.Manymodelsalsofeaturepreset“system”variantstoreflectcommonmodelsetups.
Simple/Detailedviews
The Edit Model Attributes menu has two main modes: Simple and Detailed. The Simple mode lets you change the
model’scolour scheme(ifmultipleschemesarefound)andmakelargescalechangestothemodel setupusingthe
Setupwheel.TheDetailedmodegivesyouaccesstothehugelistofeditableattributesandparametersthatdefine
howthismodelflies,lettingyoutweakandtunethemodeltomorecloselyreflectyourdesiredsetup.
Tochan gebetweenSimpleandDetailedmodes,clickoneithertheSimpleorDetailedoptioninthelowerleftofthe
menu.
Simplemode
TheSimplemodeisthedefaultviewforthismenu,andisrecommendedformostPhoenixusers.
The main pane of this view shows a preview of the selected model, along with some basic information and
specificationsaboutthemodel.Youcanrotatethepreviewbyleftorrightclickmousedraggingwithyourmouse.
Colourscheme
To the lowerleftof the preview pane is the colour scheme dropdown box. When alternative colour schemes are
foundforthecurrentlyselectedmodeltheywillappearinthisboxforyoutochoose.
Setupwheel
In the lowercentre of the menu is the Setup Wheel. This wheel lets you change a model’s overall setup to give
differentflyingcharacteristicseasilywithoutneedingtodelveintothehugelistofattributesandparameters.
Bydefault,mostmodelshavetheirSetupWheelsettotheCentre“Intermediate”position.
Byrotatingthewheeltotheleftofthispositionyouwillgraduall ymakethemodelmoredocileandeasytofly.The
model’scontrolsurfacethrows,cyclicandcollectiveresponsewillreduce,andmoreexpowillgraduallybeapplied.
As you appr oach the farleft “Beginner” position, training undercarriage will automatically appear on helicopter
models,andflybarlessmodelswillbefittedwiththe“Activeflybar”selfrightingsystemwhereappropriate.
Byrotatingthewheeltotherightofthecentralposition,themodelwillstarttobecomemoreaggressiveandharder
tofly,butcapableofmoreimpressivemanoeuvres.Thisincludesanincreaseinthemodel’scontrolsurfacethrows,
cyclicandwhereappropriatethecollectiveresponsewillincreaseaswell.
Byusing thiswheel,youcanveryeasilymakeamodel eithereasier tofly,ormore 3Dcapabledependingon your
requirements.
