Read the instructions, keep them safe, pass them on if you pass the toaster on. Remove all packaging before use. A IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Follow basic safety precautions, including: 1 The toaster must only be used by or under the supervision of a responsible adult. Use and store it out of reach of children. 2 Don’t put the toaster in liquid, don’t use it in a bathroom, near water, or outdoors. 3 Don’t put it on or near anything that could be damaged even by moderate heat. 4 Bread may burn.
U BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME • • • • Check the slots are empty. Set the browning control to the highest setting (6) Operate the toaster without bread, to cure the new elements. They may smoke a bit, but it’s nothing to worry about – ensure the room is well ventilated. T TOASTING BREAD 1 Sit the toaster upright on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface. 2 Don’t put it on or near anything that could be damaged even by moderate heat.
15 The f button will glow, and the toasting time will be altered automatically to give the same degree of browning you get with unfrozen bread. m REHEATING TOAST 16 Leave the browning control at your favoured setting, insert the bread, lower the lever, then press the m button. 17 The m button will glow, the toast will be given a short burst of heat, then it’ll pop up, and the light will go out. 18 You must only reheat plain, “unbuttered” toast.
C CARE AND MAINTENANCE 31 Unplug the toaster and let it cool. 32 Wipe outer surfaces with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a little washing-up liquid. 33 Don’t let anything enter the slots, you might damage the elements. 34 Don’t put the toaster in liquid. 35 Don’t use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
D UK WIRING INSTRUCTIONS The product must be earthed. It has a 13A BS1362 fuse in a 13A BS1363 plug. To replace the plug, fit the green/ yellow wire to E or E, the blue wire to N, and the brown wire to L. Fit the cord grip. If in doubt, call an electrician. Don’t use a non-rewireable plug unless the fuse cover is in place. If you remove the plug, dispose of it.
