Rev. 1
USB Port
The MCA-C5 has a USB 2.0/1.1 port on the front panel for ease of controller
programming with SCS-C5 software.
RS232 Serial Interface
The RS232 serial port is located on the back of the MCA-C5 and uses a DB-9
cable connection. The controller supports RS232 communication with various
third-party automation systems. This port is also used for rmware updates.
Firmware update protocol is available on the Document Center at www.
russound.com.
The RS232 port supports RNET, RIO and19.2, 38.4, 57.6 and 115.2 kHz baud
rates, which are set using SCS-C5 conguration software.
RS232 COM Port Settings (Controller 1 only)
RNET - The RS232 COM port provides bidirectional communication for
control, by default supporting RNET protocol at 19.2 kHz Baud.
RIO - RIO stands for Russound I/O protocol. RIO is a text-based command set
that improves third party integration support, making it easier to develop UI
devices and applications that require Russound system integration and control.
Available communication baud rates for RIO are 19.2, 38.4, 57.6 and 115.2 kHz.
Arcam - When a source is congured for the Arcam T32 DAB Tuner Device
Type, the COM port setting is automatically set to be compatible with the
Arcam device. Controllers 2-6 in a multi-controller system will not be aected
and their RS232 COM ports can be used for third party integration to the
system using the RNET protocol.
When a source is congured for the Arcam T32 DAB Tuner, the port is NOT
available for any other purpose as this setting takes priority over any prior
COM port settings.
ADDITIONAL CONNECTIONS
Arcam T32 Tuner Support
The Arcam DAB tuner connects to the C-Series controller via the RS232 port.
Only one Arcam DAB tuner can be added to a C-Series system, and must
connect to Controller 1 RS232 port
