Ethernet Port
The MCA-C5 has an RJ45 Ethernet port on the rear panel for connectivity to
the local Ethernet network to perform SCS-C5 conguration over an IP network
(read from device/write to device). It also supports RIO over IP (8 maximum
sessions). Refer to the RIO protocol document for more details.
When the controller is connected to the local network, the network's DHCP
server assigns an IP address to the controller. This IP address is then entered in
the SCS-C5 start-up screen to enable conguration over IP.
The IP address can be seen on the MDK-C5 keypad. From the keypad's Home
screen, choose Settings, then Installation. From the Installation menu, choose
Network settings to see the controller’s IP address and MAC address.
During the DHCP process, messages may appear in the IP address window:
LINK DOWN - the Ethernet port is not detecting a link•
DHCP WORKING - DHCP attempting to acquire an address•
DHCP FAILED - DHCP was unable to acquire an address or no DHCP server•
UNKNOWN ERROR - error other than DHCP failure•
To restart DHCP, the Ethernet cable must be disconnected and reconnected
to the MCA-C5, or power cycle the controller.
AM/FM Antenna Connections
AM Antenna
Connect the included loop antenna for AM reception to the back panel,
attaching the GND (ground) and AM ends to the appropriate connections. It is
recommended to use an external outdoor or attic-mounted long wire antenna
for best performance for AM reception. Use a 75-ohm to 300-ohm balun at
the AM connection on the controller, and attach the 75-ohm coax cable to the
balun.
FM Antenna
Attach the included FM antenna to the FM COAX connection on the back
panel by pushing the F-type quick-connect termination of the antenna onto
the FM connection. It is recommended to use an external outdoor or attic-
mounted long wire antenna for best performance for FM reception. Attach
the desired length of 75-ohm coax cable directly to the FM connection on the
controller.
