METALLIC creates a shiny and distinctive finish. This metallic paint
is for use on interior items only.
Painting Conditions: Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area such as an open garage.
Use when temperature is between 50˚F and 90˚F (10˚-32˚C) and humidity is below 85%
to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces that, when heated, exceed 200˚F
(93˚C) or galvanized metal. Avoid spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover
surrounding area to protect from spray mist.
Preparation: Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Lightly sand
glossy surfaces. Clean with soap and water, rinse and let dry. WARNING! If you scrape,
sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. Contact the
National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
Priming: Use of a Rust-Oleum Primer provides superior adhesion and hiding and is
especially recommended for porous surfaces, bare wood and metal.
Painting: Shake can vigorously for one minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. Shake
often during use. Hold can 10-16" from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth
motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the
surface. Keep the can in motion while spraying. For best appearance, apply two light
coats a few minutes apart.
Note: Metallic features an advanced spray system that allows you to spray at any angle,
even upside down for those hard to reach areas. A comfort spray tip with wider finger
pad reduces fatigue caused by continuous spraying.
Dry & Recoat Times based on 70˚F – 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler
temperatures. Dries to touch in 10 minutes and fully dry in 30 minutes. Primers may be
top coated immediately.
Clean-up: Wipe off tip when finished. Clean up wet paint with Xylol or mineral spirits.
Throw away empty can in trash pickup. Do not burn or place in home trash compactor.
Clogging: If valve clogs, twist and pull off spray tip and rinse it in a solvent such as
mineral spirits. Do not stick a pin or other objects into the stem.
CONTAINS: TOLUENE. Vapor harmful. May affect the brain or nervous system causing
dizziness, headache or nausea. Causes eye, skin, nose and throat irritation.
Do not
puncture or incinerate (burn) container.
Exposure to heat or prolonged exposure to sun may
cause bursting. Do not expose to heat or store at temperatures above 120˚F (48˚C).
NOTICE: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to
solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by
deliberately concentrating and inhaling the content may be harmful or fatal.
Vapors may
ignite explosively.
Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Do not smoke. Extinguish all
flames and pilot lights and turn off stoves, heaters, electric motors and other sources
of ignition during use and until all vapors are gone. Prevent build-up of vapors by
opening all windows and doors to achieve cross-ventilation.
Use only with adequate
ventilation.
Do not breathe dust, vapors or spray mist. Ensure fresh air entry during
application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headache or dizziness, wear
respiratory protection (NIOSH approved) or leave the area. Avoid contact with eyes,
skin and clothing.
First Aid: If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to
obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical attention immediately.
In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes
and get medical attention; for skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. WARNING:
This product contains a chemical known in the state of California to cause cancer, birth
