SURFACE PREPARATION
To ensure proper adhesion and promote maximum service life,
clean the entire driveway surface making sure it is free of dirt,
debris, oil, and grease. Trim any grass or weeds overgrowing
onto the driveway. Clean out all cracks and holes using a
screwdriver or wire brush. Remove any remaining dirt and debris
by sweeping with a stiff bristled broom. Clean heavy grease and
oil spots with EpoxyShield Blacktop Cleaner & Degreaser (sold
separately). Thoroughly rinse entire driveway with fresh water
and allow the surface to dry before application.
Repair major cracks and/or holes in the surface prior to coating
with EpoxyShield Patch & Crack Filler (sold separately). Follow
instructions on the package. Trowel patch & crack filler into small
holes up to 1" deep or pour into cracks up to ½" wide.
Note: Newly paved asphalt surfaces must be allowed to cure for
a minimum of six months or a full summer’s season prior to
application of any coating.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may
release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN
DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN YOUNG CHILDREN. PREGNANT
WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a
NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up
carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start,

.PRODUCT APPLICATION (cont.) .
APPLICATION
Apply only when air, material, and surface temperatures are
between 50-90°F (10-3C) and the surface temperature should
not exceed 10F (3C). No rain should be forecasted for 48
hours. Stir coating thoroughly to re-disperse any settled pigment.
(Optional: Use brush to trim edges of the driveway before
applying to entire surface). Pour out ½ of the container and work
the product across the blacktop using an 18-24" floor or driveway
squeegee.
Avoid applying coating is direct sunlight. If pavement is extremely
hot, apply a fine water mist to the coating surface and brush out
any remaining water puddles.
Coverage range is based on proper application. Coverage
will vary depending on the condition of the asphalt surface and
will ultimately depend on the pavement porosity. Extreme porous
pavement may significantly reduce product coverage. Application
that is too thick may result in peeling. For asphalt in poor
condition, a 2-coat application will improve uniform look and
appearance. Do not mix or blend this product with any other
driveway coating product. Do not dilute.
DRY & RECOAT TIMES
Dry and recoat times are based on 70°F and 50% relative
humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Surface
should be ready for foot traffic in 1 hour. The surface will be drive
ready in 4 hours.
CLEAN-UP
Wash tools and equipment with warm water and a mild
detergent immediately after use. Clean up drips or spatters
IMMEDIATELY with water as dried material is very difficult to
remove. Dispose of container and/or unused contents in
accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Protect
from freezing.
