OKON W-1
WATER REPELLENT SEALER FOR DENSE CONCRETE AND MASONRY
MASONRY
Form: JPB-03
Rev.: 051713
1
.DESCRIPTION AND USES .
OKON W-1 Water Repellent Sealer is a proprietary blend
of acrylic micro emulsions and a silane-siloxane solution.
The micro-emulsions penetrate the surface to establish a
water repelling barrier in the subsurface of the concrete
and masonry. OKON W-1 helps protect cast concrete, tilt-
up panels, rough stucco and other comparably dense
materials from the damaging effects of water absorption
efflorescence, mold, freeze-thaw damage, dusting and
staining. It can also be used to dustproof unsealed
concrete floors or pads. Its unique blend of acrylic micro-
emulsion, proprietary water repellent and silane/siloxane
penetrates and protects the substrate while being highly
permeable to water vapor.
OKON W-1 is recommended for dense surfaces including
Pre-cast, Adobe. Granite, Limestone, Plaster, Tilt-up, Brick,
Exposed aggregate, Rough Stucco.

.PRODUCT APPLICATION .
SURFACE PREPARATION
OKON W-1 can be applied to most dense concrete
surfaces that are unsealed, clean (free of dirt, waxes and
oils) and sound. New concrete must be cured for 28 days
prior to coating.
Unsealed: W-1 must be able to penetrate the surface.
Test the openness of the substrate by sprinkling with
water. If the surface turns dark with the water W-1 can be
applied.
Clean: Clean exterior surfaces by pressure washing to
remove dust, sand or other foreign matter. Vacuum and
damp-mop interior surfaces. Remove exterior mildew with
JOMAX® House Cleaner & Mildew Killer or equivalent.
Remove efflorescence with suflamic or dilute muriatic acid.
Spot cleaning with acid may cause uneven porosity and
blotchy appearance. Rinse the surface thoroughly after
chemical cleaning. Un-rinsed acid salts may cause

whitish-blotches to appear. Use a degreaser to remove oil
or grease stains. Surface can be slightly damp at time of
application.
Sound: Surface of concrete and mortar joints must be hard
and firm - not loose or sandy. The surface is un-sound if it
can be scraped or gouged with a flat screw driver.
Unsound mortar or deteriorated concrete should be
removed and repaired prior to coating. Cracks and joints
must be sealed with flexible sealant. Parapet walls must
be capped and backside sealed with a waterproofing
membrane. Protect adjacent and underlying surfaces from
over spray and rundown.
COVERAGE
The spread-rate of OKON W-1 will vary with the porosity
and texture of the surface. Always apply material to test
area prior to general application to establish spread rate.
After application water should bead and sheet off surface.
If not, apply an additional coat. OKON W-1 can be
recoated after the initial coat is dry, clear and colorless.
APPLICATION
is ready-to-use, no thinning is required. Surface can be
slightly damp, but not wet at time of application. In hot
weather, where possible, lightly spray surface with water
to cool the surface to prevent flash drying. It can be
applied by garden-type sprayer but is best applied by low-
pressure airless spray. Use a small to medium size airless
pump at (1/3 2/3 gpm) set a low pressure (500 psi) and
a 0.015-0.019” tip. Hold spray tip 12-18 inches from the
surface, start at the top of the wall and work down with an
overlapping horizontal spray pattern. Make multiple
application passes at the top of the wall to insure run down
of 3 5 inches down the wall. Take special care to
saturate mortar joints. Do not stop or interrupt the
application in the middle of the wall. Stop application only
at expansion joints, walls or breaks defined with masking
tape. Back rolling is recommended to prevent streaking on
very dense substrates. W-1 appears milky-white when
applied but dries clear. Material that is not absorbed
should be back rolled or brushed out to avoid build up. Do
not allow puddles, drips or runs to dry on the surface. W-1
may slightly darken the surface and add a slight sheen.
Horizontal Surfaces: OKON W-1 can be used to dust-proof
horizontal concrete floors or pads. Steel troweled surfaces
should be acid etched before using W-1 as a dust-proofer
to ensure penetration. Apply by roller, garden-sprayer or
airless. Do not pour product onto horizontal surfaces to
spread. Apply sufficient material so that surface remains
wet for several minutes before material is absorbed. After
30 minutes, back-roll remaining pools or puddles to
prevent excess material from drying on the surface.
