SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNING: If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT
WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure, and clean
up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and wet mop. For more information, contact the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-
800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES: For skin contact, wash affected area with soap and water and rinse well. For
eye contact, flush with cold water for 15 minutes. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Drink 1-2 glasses of water or milk
and contact a physician immediately. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
CHECK FOR THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS PRIOR TO COATING:
Newly Poured
Concrete
If newly poured concrete has not fully cured,
coating will not perform properly.
Allow newly poured concrete to cure for a
minimum of 28 days before coating.
Sealed Concrete
Drip a small amount of water onto floor. If the
water beads, a sealer is present and will need
to be removed.
Once sealer has been removed, proceed to
RockSolid Preparation.
Painted or Coated
Concrete
Remove any loose paint by sanding and
scraping, then test adhesion of remaining
paint:
1. Cut an X through the coating down to the
concrete with a razor.
2. Press duct tape over the X, then remove
with one quick pull.
3. If more than a quarter of the paint comes
off, DO NOT coat the floor with
RockSolid until old paint is completely
removed.
For best adhesion, scuff sand previously painted or
coated floor. Then proceed to RockSolid
Preparation.
Moist Concrete
Apply a 2’ x 2’ sheet of plastic to the garage
floor. Tape down the edges with duct tape and
let set for 24 hours. If water droplets form on
the inside of the plastic or concrete appears
wet (darker in color), moisture is trapped in
the floor and it should not be painted or
coated until moisture issue is resolved.
Use RockSolid Moisture Stop (sold separately)
to remove moisture from concrete.
Loose/Damaged
Concrete
If concrete is loose or chipped, the coating will
not perform properly. Repair damaged areas
before applying RockSolid.
