PRODUCT APPLICATION (cont) .
SURFACE PREPARATION (cont.)
Conduct a splash test by sprinkling water on at least four or more
areas, both in high traffic and non-traffic areas. If the water
absorbs rapidly into the wood, the surface is ready to coat. If the
water beads, puddles or is not absorbed, the surface is not ready
to coat and requires more surface preparation. Continue the
process until the water absorbs into the wood in all test areas.
Secure all raised nail heads, deck screws, or loose deck boards.
Remove loose splinters and replace severely damaged or rotting
boards. Fill cracks, more than ¼” with Restore Crack Filler or
similar acrylic, non-silicone filler. Allow to dry.
PRECAUTIONS & TEMPERATURE SAFEGUARDS
DO NOT APPLY IF RAIN IS EXPECTED WITHIN 48 HOURS
OF APPLICATION. Apply when air and surface temperature is
between 50-90°F (10-32°C) and will remain between 50° and
90°F for at least 48 hours (day and night) after application.
TRIM AND VERTICAL SURFACES: For posts, railings,
balusters and/or around edges and between boards, use
Restore Solid Acrylic Stain or Restore Deck & Concrete 4X.
APPLICATION
TWO THICK COATS OF 10X ADVANCED RESURFACER
ARE REQUIRED.
Thoroughly mix the material with a power drill to ensure any
settled pigment is re-dispersed and stir occasionally during use.
Box material if using more than one container to ensure color
consistency.
Using either a 4” or 9” Restore Honeycomb roller, saturate the
roller cover and roll in ONE DIRECTION, with slight downward
pressure to maintain texture and to push material into cracks and
voids. Work to a wet edge at all times. Avoid rolling back into
coated areas where drying has begun. Coat 1 to 2 boards at a
time.
After coating 1-2 boards, use a putty knife or other straight edge
to remove excess coating between boards. Difficult areas such
as warped or cupped boards will require rolling across the
narrow width of the board as well as the length to ensure
complete coverage. Allow the first coat to dry 4-6 hours. Extend
drying time if the surface is tacky or soft. Drying times may vary
depending on temperature and humidity. Apply a second coat
using the same method described above. Allow the second coat
to dry for 24 hours before light foot traffic and 48 hours before
replacing furniture. If the surface is tacky or soft, extend the
drying time before putting heavy objects back in place. Full cure
to a hard finish will take approximately 7 days.
To achieve a smoother textured surface on the second coat, a
brush may be used to skim and smooth the surface. While the
second coat is still wet, lightly brush the material to a smooth
even finish in opposite direction as rolled.
PRODUCT APPLICATION (cont) .
DRY TIMES
Dries to the touch in 2-4 hours and can be recoated in 4-6 hours.
Longer dry time is required in cooler temperatures and at higher
humidity. Surface is ready for light foot traffic after 24 hours. Allow
48 hours before replacing furniture. Full cure to a hard finish will
take approximately 7 days.
COVERAGE
Approximately 40 square feet per 1 gallon (volume after tinting).
Two coats are required.
CLEAN-UP
Restore 10X Advanced Resurfacer is a water-based
product that will clean up with soap and water. For best
results, clean up should be done before the product dries.
Cover the areas around spindles and walls to avoid
splattering during the application process. Properly
dispose of all soiled rags and protect unused product from
freezing.
COATING MAINTENANCE
Basic maintenance consists of sweeping or blowing clean
the surface from dirt, leaves and other debris. Clean the
surface seasonally and when necessary with Restore
Deck & Concrete Cleaner using a brush and a water hose.
DO NOT USE A PRESSURE WASHER.
