DESCRIPTION AND USES
High Heat
is designed to renew and protect metal surfaces
subject to heat up to 1000°F (538°C).
This durable
semi-gloss
finish retains excellent gloss and color retention after
repea
ted
heating. High Heat sprays withstand temperatures up to 1200ºF
(64C). Ideal for the exterior of barbeque
grills, wood stoves,
radiators, fire pits, fireplace screens, automotive parts, and
more.
PAINTING CONDITIONS
Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area such as an open
garage. Use when temperature is between 50ºF (10ºC)
and
90ºF (32ºC)
and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper
drying. Priming is not recommended. Do not use on
metal
directly exposed to open flame or in direct contact with food,
such as a grill grate. If using sprays, avoid application in ver
y
windy and dusty conditions. Cover
surrounding area to protect
from spray
mist.

ARA
TION
Remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt and chemical
contaminants
by washing the surface with a commercial detergent, or other
suitable cleaning method. Rinse with fresh water and allow
to
thoroughly dry. Remove loose paint and rust with
a wire brush
or sandpaper. Previously coated surfaces must be sound and
in good condition. Smooth, hard, or glossy finishes should be
scarified by sanding to create a surface profile. Removal
of
old paint by sanding, scraping or other means may genera
te
dust or fumes that contain lead. LEAD IS TOXIC.

APPLICATION
Sprays: Shake can vigorously for one
minute after the mixing ball
begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle DO NOT STRIKE CAN.
Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Hold can
upright
10-16” from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion,
slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance
from the surface. Keep the can in motion while spraying.
A
pply
two or more light coats a few minutes apart to avoid drips and
runs. Do not use near open
flame.
Brush Goods: Mix thoroughly to ensure any settled pigment is
re-
dispersed.
Thin material only
if
necessary with mineral spirits.
F
or
brush or roller application, thin no more than 5%. Do not thin
with
gasoline, lacquer thinner, turpentine,
etc.
Apply with
a good quality
brush, nap roller, or conventional spray gun. A second coat is not
recommended.
DRY & RECOAT
TIMES
Sprays: Dries to touch in 30 minutes and to handle in 1-2 hours.
Allow paint to dry for 1 hour before heating. Product may
emit
smoke and harmless odor
.
Brush Goods: Dry and recoat times are based on 70ºF and
50%
relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries
to touch in 2-4 hours, to handle in 5-9 hours, and is fully dry
in
24
hours.
Allow paint to dry 24 hours before heating. When using
the subject surface for the first time, open windows and provide
ventilation as the new paint finish may emit smoke
CLEAN-UP
Sprays: Clean valve immediately after
use by turning can upside
down and depressing spray button for 3-5 seconds (some
paint
will be sprayed out, so be careful to not inadvertently spray
yourself or other objects). Clean-up wet paint with xylene or
mineral spirits. Properly discard empty container. Do not burn or
place in home trash
compactor.
Brush Goods: Clean brush, roller, and other tools
with mineral
spirits. Dispose of soiled rags
properly
.
CLOGGING
If the valve clogs, twist and pull off spray tip and rinse in a solvent
such as mineral spirits. Do not insert any object into can valve
opening.
