Measure for Screen & Framing Needs:
Start by measuring for how much screen you will need
and how many base and caps you will need to complete
the project. (Figure A)
For screen measure the length x width to get the total
area of screen you will need.
Important Note: For framing needs, measure each beam
that you will be placing a base and cap on. Add each
together to get the total number of feet you will need.
TIP: To be safe, add 10% to your final number to ensure
you will have enough.
Attaching the Base
Measure each frame piece. (Figure B)
Cut each base piece to size using tin snips. (Figure C)
Secure each base piece to your beam using 1 ¼” wood
screws. (Figure D)
Important Note: If more than one 8 foot base piece is
needed to achieve length, be sure to line up the spline
channels to the base next to it when attaching to the beam.
TIP: Be sure to use enough screws that the base plate
lies tight and flat on the beam. Extra holes can be drilled
if needed.
Corners do not require any mitering. Line each corner up
perpendicular to each other, keeping up to a 1/8” space
between each side to allow room for cap to be installed.
