TORQUE

ITEM OPERATION

Take the power wire extension from the previous page, and slide it onto

the alternator harness power wire. With a crimping tool, attach the

section to the alternator harness.

Clamp the newly extended power wire into a vise so that the small hole

in the crimp is facing up. With a torch, heat up the splice and apply

soldier. Keep applying heat until the soldier draws into the hole in the

crimp.

Reposition the power wire in the vise so that the ring terminal is facing

upward. With a torch, heat up the ring terminal and apply soldier to the

exposed copper wire. Keep applying heat until the soldier draws into the

wire and ring terminal.

Allow both the splice and the ring terminal to cool. Once cool, slide two

1.5" sections of red heat shrink (A) onto the power wire. One section will

cover the splice while the other section will cover the crimped portion of

the ring terminal. Apply heat to until each section of heat shrink is fully

seated to the wire.
