Mailbox Cleaning Instructions
Using a soft cloth or sponge, clean the interior and exterior of the mailbox with liquid
soap, detergent, or diluted water-soluble household cleaners. Completely remove
residue of any cleaning products with water and thoroughly dry* with a clean soft
cloth. Avoid the cleaning process during extreme temperature conditions.
Important: Do not use an abrasive applicator, any abrasive cleaning agent, any
cleaner containing chemical detergents, or any cleaner with acid content. Doing so
may result in scratching, discoloring, or even removing the nish.
If a mailbox lock in outdoor equipment becomes clogged with ice due to extreme
winter weather conditions, Salsbury Industries suggests using lubricant aerosol.
Spray the lubricant directly into the keyhole and onto the key. Slide the key in and
out of the lock several times to spread the lubricant. Wipe off any excess lubricant
from the lock and key.
*
In coastal areas, many periods of condensation and drying can create a build-up of atmospheric salts that may adhere to the mailboxes. These weather
conditions necessitate more frequent cleaning of mailboxes.
