1. Software Installation This chapter provides instructions for installing essential and helpful software for use in an environment where the machine is connected via a cable. A locally connected machine is a machine directly attached to your computer using the cable. If your machine is attached to a network, skip the following steps below and go on to installing a network connected machine’s driver (see "Installing driver over the network" on page 183).

Useful network programs There are several programs available to setup the network settings easily in a network environment. Wired network setup 4 Printing a network configuration report You can print Network Configuration Report from the machine’s control panel that will show the current machine’s network settings. This will help you to set up a network. • The machine has the display screen: Press the (Menu) button on the control panel and select Network >Network Configuration. • The machine has the touch screen: Press Setup from the Main screen > Machine Setup> Network Setup > Next > Network Configuration.
Wired network setup 7 Enter the machine’s new information into the configuration window as follows. In a corporate intranet, you may need to have this information assigned by a network manager before proceeding.
