Connecting to a Power Source You can charge the rechargeable battery (SLB-1137D) by using an SAC47 KIT. The SAC-47 KIT consists of the AC adapter (SAC-47) and the USB cable (SUC-C3). When the AC adapter and the USB cable are assembled, it can be used as an AC cable. ● Using the SAC-47 as an AC charger : Insert the AC adapter into the USB connector. When the AC adapter is inserted, it can be used as an AC charger. In the following cases, the battery may not be charged.

Instructions on using the memory card ● Be sure to format the memory card (see p.71) if you are using a newly purchased memory card for the first time, if it contains data that the camera cannot recognise, or if it contains images captured with a different camera. ● Turn off the camera power whenever the memory card is being inserted or removed. ● Repeated use of the memory card will eventually reduce its performance. Should this be the case, you will need to purchase a new memory card.

When Using the Camera for the First Time : Setting up the Date / Time and Language When the camera is turned on for the first time, a menu will be displayed in the LCD monitor to set date, time and language. Starting the recording mode How to use the MOVIE mode Recording the movie clip without sound A movie clip can be recorded for as long as the available recording time of the memory capacity allows. You can record the movie clip without sound. 1. Select the MOVIE mode by rotating the mode dial. (Available recording time will display on the LCD monitor) 2. Point the camera towards the subject and compose the image by using the LCD monitor.
Starting the recording mode Using Photo Style Selector Mode By using the photo style selector dial located on the top of the camera, you can create photos that have various effects applied to them without using an image correction program. ●P hoto Style Selector Mode is not available in Nightscene, Portrait, Movie or Scene Mode. 1. Things to Watch Out for When Taking Pictures ●P ressing the shutter button down half way. Lightly press the shutter button to confirm focus and flash battery charge. Press the shutter button all the way down to take the picture. Using the camera buttons to set the camera The recording mode function can be set up by using the camera buttons. OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) button POWER button Minimize camera-shake during shooting by pressing the OIS button in Shooting Mode. Used for turning the camera’s power on / off. If there is no operation during the specified time, the camera’s power will be turned off automatically to save battery life. Refer to page 74 for more information about the auto power off function.
Using the camera buttons to set the camera ● I f you operate OIS function using a tripod, the image can be blurred by the vibration of the sensor of the OIS. Turn off the OIS function when you use a tripod. ● If the camera is receives an impact the LCD monitor can be affected. To make the camera function properly again, turn it on and off. ● Operate the OIS function when the battery is efficiently charged ( , ). ● If the low battery level ( ) is showing, OIS can still be set but will not work.
Using the camera buttons to set the camera ZOOM W / T button ■ WIDE Zoom Optical zoom WIDE : Pressing the ZOOM W button. This will zoom out from the subject i.e. the subject will appear farther away. Pressing the ZOOM W button continuously will set the camera to its minimum zoom setting i.e. the subject appears at its farthest from the camera.

Effect By using the camera’s digital processor, it is possible to add special effects to your images. Pictures can be adjusted prior to shooting. It can only be set if is selected on the photo style selector dial. Quality / Frame rate BLUE SEPIA B&W You can select the compression ratio appropriate for your application of the captured images. The higher the compression ratio, the lower the picture quality. NORMAL : No effect is added to the image.

Voice recording / Voice memo A voice can be recorded for as long as the available recording time (Max 10 hours) of the memory capacity allows. ISO Exposure compensation You can select the ISO sensitivity when taking pictures. The speed or specific light-sensitivity of a camera is rated in ISO numbers. ISO menu is available in the Program and Manual mode. This camera automatically adjusts the exposure according to the ambient lighting conditions. You can also select the exposure value in the compensating exposure menu. Exposure compensation menu is available in the Program and DUAL IS, Movie mode.
ACB (Auto Contrast Balance) Shutter Speed When this option is selected, the contrast is automatically adjusted. That is, when pictures are taken in backlight conditions where the exposure varies considerably or where there is wide variation in brightness, the brightness is automatically adjusted to obtain clear picture quality. This mode will set the shutter speed for automatic exposure in manual mode.
Aperture Value Movie Clip frame stabiliser This mode will set the aperture value for automatic exposure in manual mode. Smaller aperture values make the object sharp but blur the background. Larger aperture values make both the object and background sharp. This function helps stabilize images captured during movie recording. You can select this menu only in the MOVIE mode. 1. Select ( ) icon by pressing the smart button to help stabilize images captured during movie recording.
Scene menu Use the menu to easily configure optimal settings for a variety of shooting situations. Starting play mode Turn the camera on and select Play mode by pressing the play mode button ( ). The camera can now play back the images stored in the memory. If the memory card is inserted in the camera, all the camera functions apply only to the memory card. If the memory card is not inserted in the camera, all the camera functions apply only to the internal memory. ● Manner mode : To select the Manner mode, press the Play mode button for more than 3 seconds.

Using the camera buttons to adjust the camera Using the remote control in play mode In Play mode, you can use the buttons on the camera to conveniently set up the Play mode functions. While an image is displayed on full screen, press the thumbnail button. 2. The thumbnail display will highlight the image that had been showing at the time the thumbnail mode was selected. 3. Use the smart button to move to a desired image. 4. To view an image separately, press the enlargement button.
Thumbnail ( ) / Enlargement ( ) button ■ Trimming : You can extract part of the image that you want and save it separately. 1. Enlarge the image by using the Zoom button. To move the image, use the Smart button. 2. Press the smart button to display a confirmation window. 3. Press the [Yes] button. The trimmed image will be saved as a new file name, and appear on the LCD monitor. If there is not enough memory space to save the trimmed image, the image can’t be trimmed.
Starting the slide show Images can be displayed continuously at pre-set intervals. You can view the slide show by connecting the camera to an external monitor. To start the slide show, press the Start menu button. While the slide show is playing, the movie file and the voice recording file will not display. SLIDE SHOW PLAY ■ Setting play interval Set the slide show play interval to the number of seconds preferred. [1 sec] [3 sec] [5 sec] [10 sec] : Playback interval is 1 sec.
Protecting images Deleting images This is used to protect (Lock) specific shots from being accidentally erased. It also unprotects (Unlocks) images that have been previously protected. This is used to delete the displayed image. [YES] : deletes displayed or checked ( ) image. [NO] : c ancels deleting displayed image or checked ( ) image. [ONE] : Protect / release displayed image. [ALL] : Protect / release all saved images.
DPOF DPOF : IMAGES ■ DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) allows you to embed printing information on your memory card’s MISC folder. Select the pictures to be printed and how many prints to make. ■ The DPOF indicator will appear on the LCD monitor when an image that has DPOF information plays back. Images can then be printed on DPOF printers, or at an increasing number of photo labs. ■ This function is not available for Movie clips and Voice recording files.
DPOF : Print size DPOF : Index You can specify the print size when printing images stored on the memory card. The [SIZE] menu is available only for DPOF 1.1 compatible printers. Images (except for movie clips and voice file) are printed as index type. 1. Select the [INDEX] menu by pressing the smart button. 2. Select a desired sub menu by pressing the smart button. If [NO] is selected : Cancel the index print setting. If [YES] is selected : The image will be printed in index format.
Rotating an image Resize You can rotate the stored images by various degrees. Once the playback of the rotated picture is finished, it will be saved in its rotated state. Change the resolution (size) of pictures taken. Select [START IMAGE] to save an image to be the start-up image. The resized image will have a new file name. ROTATE 1. Press the Edit button. 2. Press the [ROTATE] menu button. 3. Select a desired sub menu by pressing the smart button. RESIZE 1. Press the Edit button. 2.
Resize ●Y ou can change the resolution of only those files compressed in the JPEG 4:2:2 format. ● The resized image will have a new file name. The [START IMAGE] image is stored not on the memory card but on the internal memory. ● Only one [START IMAGE] image can be saved. If you save a new [START IMAGE], the existing startup image will be deleted.
Special Colour Elegant 1. Press the Edit button during playback. 2. Use the Smart button to select the ( ) menu. This effect makes the photo’s colours bright and rich for an elegant feel. With this menu, you can change the colour information of the image (excluding Red, Blue, Green and Yellow) to Black and White. ADD NOISE ELEGANT Colour Filter SHADED ADD NOISE ELEGANT 1. Image Adjust Brightness control 1. Press the Edit button during playback. 2. Use the Smart button to select the ( ) menu. You can change the brightness of the image. SATURATION CONTRAST Red eye removal Red eye effect can be removed from the captured image. SATURATION CONTRAST BRIGHTNESS 1. Press the [RED EYE FIX] menu button. 2. After the message [Processing!] is displayed, the corresponding effect is applied. 3. Press the OK button to save the changed image under a new filename.
Image Adjust PictBridge Saturation control You can use the USB cable to connect this camera to a printer that supports PictBridge (sold separately) and print the stored images directly Movie clips and voice files cannot be printed. You can change the saturation of the image. SATURATION CONTRAST 1. Press the [SATURATION] menu button. 2. Use the Smart button to adjust Saturation as desired. 3. After the message [Processing!] is displayed, the corresponding effect is applied. 4.
PictBridge ■ Custom Set ■ Easy printing When you connect the camera to printer in the Play back mode, you can print a picture easily with the default print settings. You can select the Paper Size, Print Format, Paper Type, Print Quality, Date Print, and File Name Print menus for printed pictures. 1. In the play back mode, connect the camera and the printer. The menu icons will appear as shown. 2. Press the button. 3. Select the [Yes] menu and the image will print. Print? Yes 1 No No.
PictBridge ■ Reset h Some menu options are not supported on all printers. If not supported, the menus are not displayed in the LCD. Initialises user-changed configurations. h If the setting values are not changed in the automatic / manual setting, the setting values are automatically kept. - In custom printing mode, press the Reset menu button. ■ Printing images (Custom mode) Images will be printed with changed printer setting. 1. In custom printing mode, press the Print menu button.
Setup menu In this mode, you can set up basic settings.
