Erasing Files from the SD card
To erase files from the SD card using the device:
1. Ensure the SD card is mounted.
2. From the main Settings page, tap General tab

Mount SD card.
3. Tap Format SD card

Format SD card

Delete all to format the SD card. The SD card formats and
erases all the data stored on it.
Formatting the SD card
Use the Format SD card setting to remove all data from an installed memory card.
Important! Data cannot be recovered after formatting.
1. Ensure the SD card is mounted.
2. From a Home screen, tap Apps

Storage.
3. Tap Format SD card, then follow the prompts to delete all data from the card.
Security
Configure options for securing information on your tablet.
Encryption
You can encrypt accounts, settings, downloaded apps and their data, media, and other files. After encryption, you
must enter the PIN or password you set each time you turn on your tablet. You can also encrypt information stored
on an optional installed memory card (not included).
Encryption may take an hour or more to complete. Start with a charged battery, and keep the tablet on the charger
until encryption is complete. Interrupting the encryption process may result in the loss of some or all data.
From a Home screen, tap Apps

Security, and then select an option:
Encrypt device: Tap Set screen lock type to start, and then follow the prompts to encrypt information.
Encrypt external SD card: Tap Set screen lock type to start, and then follow the prompts to encrypt
information.
SIM Card Lock
Set up and manage your SIM card lock.
From a Home screen, tap Apps

Set up SIM card lock
for options.
Device Administration
Some applications, such as Corporate email, may require you allow access to your tablet by device administrators
in certain circumstances, such as if your tablet is lost or stolen.
Some features a device administrator might control include:
Setting the number of failed password attempts before the device is restored to factory settings
Automatically locking the device.
Restoring factory settings on the device.
Password Settings
When you create a phone password you can also configure the device to display the password as you type it
instead of using an asterisk (*).

2. Tap Make passwords visible to activate this feature.
Device Administration
Activating this feature allows Google to administrate your device in a way similar to IT security settings on a
corporate PC. This would be beneficial in the case that your phone was lost or stolen. The device could be
“deactivated” or “restricted” (through administration) from a remote location.
1. From a Home screen, tap Apps

2. Tap Device administrators to begin configuring this setting.
3. Select an administrator device and follow the prompts.
Unknown Sources
Allow applications from sources other than the GooglePlayStore to be installed on the tablet.
1. From a Home screen, tap Apps

2. Tap Unknown sources to turn the optionon.
Warning! Because this device can be configured with system software not provided by or supported by Google
or any other company, end-users operate these devices at their own risk.
Verify Apps
Block or display a warning before installing apps that might cause harm to the tablet.
1. From a Home screen, tap Apps

2. Tap Verify apps to turn the option on.
Security Update Service
To set security update service settings:
1. From a Home screen, tap Apps

Settings
g
General tab
g
Security.
2. Tap Security policy updates for these options:
Automatic updates: Automatically check for changes to the security policy and download any updates to
improve security.
Preferred networks: Set whether to use WiFi or mobile networks or WiFi networks only.
Check for updates: Check for updates manually.
3. Tap Send security reports to send security reports to Samsung via Wi‑Fi for threat analysis.
Credential Storage
You can install credentials from an optional installed memory card (not included), and use the Credential storage
settings to allow applications to access the security certificates and other credentials.
1. From a Home screen, tap Apps

General tab

Security.
2. Tap Storage type to back up your tablet to hardware.
3. Tap Trusted credentials to view installed certificates.
4. Tap Install from device storage and choose a certificate and follow the prompts to install.
5. Tap Clear credentials and follow the prompts to clear stored credentials and reset the password.
