Manual feeding in the tray • When printing on special media, you must follow the loading guidelines (see "Printing on special media" on page 12). • Flatten any curl on postcards, envelopes, and labels before loading them into the in the tray. • To ensure printing quality and to prevent paper jams, only load the available paper (see "Print media specifications" on page 104). • Print media should be loaded face up with the top edge going into the tray first and be placed in the center of the tray.
Envelopes with a peel-off adhesive strip or with more than one flap that folds over to seal must use adhesives compatible with the machine’s fusing temperature for 0.1 second about 170°C (338 °F). The extra flaps and strips might cause wrinkling, creasing, or jams, and may even damage the fuser. For the best print quality, position margins no closer than 15 mm from the edges of the envelope. Avoid printing over the area where the envelope’s seams meet.

Basic scanning method • The maximum resolution that can be achieved depends upon various factors, including computer speed, available disk space, memory, the size of the image being scanned, and bit depth settings. Thus, depending on your system and what you are scanning, you may not be able to scan at certain resolutions, especially using enhanced dpi.

The problem occurs on Ubuntu 12.04 due to problem in standard CUPS filter 'pdftops' (actual output point it out exactly) and it has been fixed already. Updating 'cups-filters' package from version 1.0.17 to version 1.0.18 fixes the problem ('pdftops' is a part of 'cupsfilters' package). The problem occurs on openSUSE 12.3 and it has some problem in standard CUPS filter 'pdftops' that may affect certain PDF documents (it seems this issue relates somehow to fonts used in PDF).
