ENGLISH Functions EASY Mode (for Beginners) ✤ The EASY mode allows a beginner to easily make good recordings. ■ The EASY mode only operates in CAMCORDER and CAMERA modes. ✤ ■ 1. Set the Power Switch to REC mode. 2. By pressing the EASY button, all functions on the camera will be set to OFF and the recording settings will be set to the following basic modes: ■ Battery level, recording mode, counter, DATE/TIME, and EIS ( ) will be displayed. ■ The word “EASY.Q” will appear on the LCD at the same time.
ENGLISH Functions MF/AF (Manual Focus/Auto Focus) ✤ The MF/AF function works in CAMCORDER and CAMERA modes. ✤ In most situations, it is better to use the automatic focus feature, as it enables you to concentrate on the creative side of your recording. ✤ Manual focusing may be necessary under certain conditions that make automatic focusing difficult and/or unreliable. Auto Focusing ✤ In CAMCORDER Mode, turning on the device will set it to automatic focus.
ENGLISH Functions Zooming In and Out with DIGITAL ZOOM ✤ The Zoom works in CAMCORDER and CAMERA modes. ✤ Zooming In and Out ✤ Zooming is a recording technique that lets you change the size of the subject in a scene. For more professional looking recordings, do not use the zoom function too often. ✤ You can zoom using variable zoom speeds. ✤ Use these features for different shots.
ENGLISH Using the CAMCORDER - Basic Recording Inserting and Ejecting a Cassette ✤ When inserting a tape or closing the cassette holder, do not apply excessive force. This may cause a malfunction. ✤ Do not use any tapes other than Mini DV cassettes. 1. Connect a power source. Slide the TAPE 1 OPEN/EJECT switch and open the cassette door. - The cassette holding mechanism rises automatically. 2. Insert a tape into the cassette holder with the tape window facing outward and the protection tab toward the top.

ENGLISH Using the CAMCORDER - Basic Recording When a cassette is loaded and the camcorder is left in the STBY mode for more than 5 minutes without being used, it will automatically turn off. To use it again, push the START/STOP button or set the Power switch to OFF and then back to CAMERA. This Auto Power Off feature is designed to save battery power. Record Search (REC SEARCH) ✤ You can view a recording using the REC SEARCH +, _ function in STBY mode.
ENGLISH Using the CAMCORDER - Basic Recording Hints for Stable Image Recording ✤ When recording, it is very important to hold the camcorder correctly. ✤ Recording with the LCD Monitor 1. Hold the camcorder firmly using the hand strap. 2. Place your right elbow against your side. 3. Place your left hand under or beside the LCD to support and adjust it. Do not touch the built-in microphone. 4. Choose a comfortable, stable position for the shots that you are taking.

BALANCE (WHITE BALANCE) - CAMERA Mode ✤ ✤ When the recorded color of a subject appears differently because of certain weather or lighting conditions, adjusting the White Balance enables you to get the correct color of the subject. ✤ ✤ The Adjusted White Balance is stored when the device is turned off. If the battery is fully discharged or detached, the White Balance will return to the AUTO setting, which is the factory default.
