Getting started Set up your device Charge the battery | Wireless power sharing Your device uses a nano-SIM card. A SIM card may be preinstalled, or you may be able to use your previous SIM card. Contact your carrier for more details. Install SIM/microSD card Gently press the microSD card into the front of the tray. Flip the tray over and press the SIM card into the back of the tray. Charge your device Before turning on your device, charge it fully.
Getting started NOTE Wall charger sold separately; use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables. To avoid injury or damage to your device, do not use incompatible, worn or damaged batteries, chargers or cables. Using other charging devices and batteries may void your warranty and may cause damage. For more information on your device, including charging compatibility, please visit samsung.com. Getting started Wireless power sharing Wirelessly charge your compatible Samsung devices using your phone. Some features are not available while sharing power. 1. From Settings, tap sharing. Battery and device care > Battery > Wireless power 2. Tap Battery limit and choose a percentage. Once the device you are charging has reached this level of charge, wireless power sharing automatically turns off. 3. Tap to turn on the charging feature. 4.
Getting started For best results when using Wireless power sharing, please note: • Remove any accessories or cover before using the feature. Depending on the type of accessory or cover, Wireless power sharing may not work properly. • The location of the wireless charging coil may vary by device, so you may need to adjust the placement to make a connection. When charging starts, a notification or vibration will occur, so the notification will help you know you've made a connection.
Getting started Use the Setup Wizard The first time you turn your device on, the Setup Wizard guides you through the basics of setting up your device. Getting started Lock or unlock your device Use your device’s screen lock features to secure your device. By default, the device locks automatically when the screen times out. Getting started Navigation A touch screen responds best to a light touch from the pad of your finger or a capacitive stylus. Using excessive force or a metallic object on the touch screen may damage the surface of the screen and the damage will not be covered by the warranty. Getting started Ways to disconnect • Focus mode: Limit app usage for set periods of time to avoid distractions from your device. • Bedtime mode: Schedule when to change the screen to grayscale and mute calls, alerts, and other sounds. Check on your kids • Parental controls: Supervise your children’s digital life with Google’s Family Link app.
Getting started Always On Display View missed calls and message alerts, check the time and date, and view other customized information without unlocking your device using Always On Display (AOD). 1. Getting started Biometric security Use biometrics to securely unlock your device and log in to accounts. Face recognition You can enable Face Recognition to unlock your screen. To use your face to unlock your device, you must set a pattern, PIN, or password. • Face recognition is less secure than Pattern, PIN, or Password. Your device could be unlocked by someone or something that looks like your image.
Getting started • Brighten screen: Increase the screen brightness temporarily so that your face can be recognized in dark conditions. • About unlocking with biometrics: Learn additional information about securing your device with biometrics. Fingerprint scanner Use fingerprint recognition as an alternative to entering passwords in certain apps. You can also use your fingerprint to verify your identity when logging in to your Samsung account.

Getting started Link your device to your computer 1. From Settings, tap Advanced features > Link to Windows. 2. Follow the prompts to connect your device to your PC. TIP You can also enable this feature from the Quick settings menu. Samsung DeX Connect your device to a PC or TV for an enhanced multitasking experience. • Send DeX to your TV and keep using your device, or turn your device into a trackpad. • Connect to a TV or monitor either wirelessly or with an HDMI cable.
Getting started Multi window Multitask by using multiple apps at the same time. Apps that support Multi window™ can be displayed together on a split screen. You can switch between the apps and adjust the size of their windows. Split screen control 1. From any screen, tap Recent apps. 2. Tap the app icon, and then tap Open in split screen view. 3. Tap an app in the other window to add it to the split screen view. • Drag the middle of the window border to adjust the window size.

Edge panels can be used to access apps, tasks, and contacts, as well as view news, sports, and other information. From Camera, set up your shot with the following features: • Tap the screen where you want the camera to focus. – When you tap the screen, a brightness scale appears. Drag the slider to adjust the brightness. • To quickly switch between the front and rear cameras, swipe the screen up or down. • To change to a different shooting mode, swipe the screen right or left.
Camera and Gallery – Live focus video: Adjust the level of background blur in your videos so the subject stands out. – Pro video: Manually adjust the ISO sensitivity, exposure value, white balance, and color tone while recording videos. – Super slow-mo: Record videos at an extremely high frame rate for viewing in high quality slow motion. You can play a specific section of each video in slow motion after recording it. – Slow motion: Record videos at a high frame rate for viewing in slow motion.
Camera and Gallery Live focus Add interactive focus effects to your pictures. 1. From Camera, swipe to More, and then tap Live focus. 2. Tap Live focus effect and choose an effect. 3. Tap Capture. Scene optimizer Automatically adjust exposure, contrast, white balance, and more based on what is detected in the camera frame to help you capture beautiful photos. ◌ From Camera, swipe to Photo, and tap Scene optimizer. NOTE The Scene optimizer is only available when using the rear camera.
Camera and Gallery Record videos Record smooth lifelike videos using your device. 1. From 2. Tap Camera, swipe right or left to change the shooting mode to Video. Record to begin recording a video. • To take a picture while recording, tap • To temporarily stop recording, tap Resume. 3. Tap Capture. Pause. To continue recording, tap Stop when you are finished recording. Live focus video Create professional-looking films by applying background blurs and other special effects to your video.
Camera and Gallery • Format and advanced options: Choose file formats and other saving options. – HEIF pictures: Save pictures as high efficiency images to save space. Some sharing sites may not support this format. – RAW copies: Save JPEG and RAW copies of pictures taken in Pro mode. – Ultra wide shape correction: Automatically correct distortion in pictures taken with the ultra wide lens.

Uninstall or disable apps Installed apps can be removed from your device. Some apps that are preloaded (available on your device by default) can only be disabled.
Apps Create and use folders You can make folders to organize App shortcuts on the Apps list. 1. From Apps, touch and hold an app shortcut, and then drag it on top of another app shortcut until it is highlighted. 2. Release the app shortcut to create the folder. • Folder name: Name the folder. Palette: Change the folder color. • • Add apps: Place more apps in the folder. Tap apps to select them, and then tap Done. 3. Tap Back to close the folder.

Apps Alarm Use the Alarm tab to set one-time or recurring alarms and choose options for how to be notified. 1. From Clock, tap Add alarm. 2. Tap the following items to configure an alarm: • Time: Set a time for the alarm. • Day: Choose the days for this alarm. • Alarm name: Enter a name for the alarm. • Alarm sound: Choose a sound to play for the alarm and drag the slider to set the volume of the alarm. • Vibration: Choose whether the alarm uses vibration alert. • Snooze: Allow snoozing.
Apps World clock The World clock lets you keep track of the current time in multiple cities around the globe. Search Find a particular city. Globe Drag to spin and see times around the world. City View the current time and add to your list of cities. Location Center the globe on your current location. 1. From 2. Tap Clock, tap World clock. Add city. 3. Touch and hold the globe to spin it, tap the city you want, and then tap Add. • To remove a city, touch and hold it, and tap Delete.
Apps Time zone converter Set a time in a city on your World clock list to see what the local times would be in the other listed cities. 1. From Clock, tap World clock. 2. Settings Access Settings There are a couple of ways to access your device settings. From a Home screen, swipe down and tap From Apps, tap Settings. Settings. Search for Settings If you are not sure exactly where to find a certain setting, you can search for it. 1. From Settings, tap Search, and enter keywords. 2. Tap an entry to go to that setting. Connections Manage connections between your device and a variety of networks and other devices.
Settings Connect to a hidden Wi-Fi network If the Wi-Fi network you want is not listed after a scan, you can still connect to it by entering the information manually. Ask the Wi-Fi network administrator for the name and password before you begin. 1. From Settings, tap Connections > Wi-Fi, and then tap 2. Tap Add network at the bottom of the list. 3. Enter information about the Wi-Fi network: to turn on Wi-Fi. • Network name: Type the exact name of the network.

Settings Separate app sound You can choose to have an app play only media sound on a Bluetooth speaker or headset separate from the other sounds (like notifications). Settings Do not disturb Do not disturb allows you to block sounds and notifications while this mode in turned on. You can also specify exceptions for people, apps, and alarms. You can also set a schedule for recurring events like sleep or meetings. ◌ From Settings, tap Notifications > Do not disturb and configure the following: • Do not disturb: Enable Do not disturb to block sounds and notifications. • For how long?: Choose a default duration for Do not disturb mode when you enable it manually.
Settings • Floating notifications: Enable floating notifications in either Bubbles or Smart pop-up view. • Suggest actions and replies for notifications: Get applicable suggestions for actions to notifications and replies to messages. • Notification reminders: Enable and customize periodic reminders about notifications from selected apps and services. You can set a schedule to automatically turn this feature on and off.

Screen timeout You can set the screen to turn off after a set amount of time.

Credential storage You can manage the trusted security certificates installed on your device, which verify the identity of servers for secure connections.
