Automatic Answering Operation
If you turn the answering system on, the phone will answer a call after a
specified number of rings. The caller will hear a pre-recorded greeting
message: “Hello, no one is available to answer your call. Please leave
your message after the beep.” If you want, you can change the greeting
message by recording your own message. After a beep, the phone will
record the caller’s message. While the message is being recorded, you
can hear the call through the base speaker. If you want to talk with the
caller, pick up the handset or press key on the base.
• You can record, play, or set the answering options on the base
regardless of whether the handset is on the line or in the Standby
mode.
• You can also operate the base answering features remotely by using
your handset or from a touch-tone phone. See page 77 and 78
respectively.
• You cannot operate answering features on the base while the handset
is using answering features, and vice verse.
• If an incoming call comes in while you are operating answering
features (record, play, or set options), the phone will cancel the
operation and start ringing.
• Your phone is capable of recording a maximum of 120 memos and
caller messages.
