Using the radio for the first time GB 1. Place your radio on a flat surface. 2. Fully extend the telescopic aerial located on the rear of your radio. 3. Insert the adaptor plug into the DC socket located on the rear of your radio. Plug the adaptor into a standard mains outlet. The display will show “Welcome to Digital Radio” for a few seconds. After s short time, the current time will appear on the display. 4. If no stations are found, “0:00” will be displayed.
Operating your radio 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. The display will show “Scanning” for a few seconds. When first switched on, the radio will be in DAB mode. Then the first station in the list of stations found during scanning will be played. The display will show the station name on the display. After each use the radio will remember the last mode used and then switch on in that mode the next time that it is used.
Selecting a station - DAB 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. GB DAB Mode 2. Press and release the Mode button until the DAB mode is selected. The display will show the name of the radio station currently selected. 3. Rotate the Tuning control to step through the list of available stations. 4. When the desired station name appears on the display, press and release the Select button to select the station. The display will show 'Connecting' while your radio finds the new station. 5.
Display options - DAB Your radio has a range of display options when in DAB mode:1. Press and release the Info button to cycle through the various options. All display options except the text display will revert to the clock display after about 10 seconds. a. Scrolling text Displays scrolling text messages such as artist/track name, phone in number, etc. b. Programme type Displays type of station being listened to e.g. Pop, Classic, News, etc. c.
Finding new stations - DAB GB From time to time, new DAB radio stations may become available. Or you may have moved to a different part of the country. In this case you may need to cause your radio to scan for new stations. 1. Press and release the Menu button until the Advanced DAB menu shows on the display. 2. Press the Auto tune button to scan for new stations. Your radio will perform a scan of the Band III DAB channels.
Manual tuning - DAB Manual tuning allows you to tune your radio to a particular DAB frequency in Band III. Any new stations found will be added to the station list. This function can also be used to assist the positioning of the aerial or the radio to optimize reception for a specific channel or frequency. 1. Press the Menu button until the Advanced DAB menu shows on the display and then release the button. 2. Rotate the Tuning control until the display shows 'Manual Tune'. 3.
Dynamic Range Control (DRC) - DAB GB The DRC facility can make quieter sounds easier to hear when your radio is used in a noisy environment. There are three levels of compression: DRC Off No compression applied. (default) DRC High Maximum compression applied. DRC Low Medium compression applied. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press and release the Mode button until the DAB band is selected. 3. Press and release the Menu button until the Advanced DAB menu shows on the display. 4.
Prune stations - DAB Over time, some DAB services may stop broadcasting, or may change location and then not be able to receive a station. In order to remove such stations from the DAB station list, the Prune stations function will delete the DAB stations from your station list that can no longer be received. Stations which cannot be found or which have not been received for a very long time are shown in the station list with a question mark. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 2.
Operating your radio - FM auto-tune GB 1. Fully extend the telescopic aerial located on the rear of your radio. FM Mode 2. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 3. Press and release the Mode button until the FM band is selected. 4. Press and release the Auto tune button to cause your radio to search from low frequency to high frequency and to stop automatically when it finds a station of sufficient strength. 87.50MHz Scanning... 5. After a few seconds the display will update.
Manual tuning - FM 1. Fully extend the aerial located on the rear of your radio. FM Mode 2. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 3. Press and release the Mode button until the FM band is selected. 4. Rotate the Tuning control to tune to a station. The frequency will change in steps of 50kHz. If the radio is tuned to a station of sufficient signal strength with RDS information present, then the display may change to show the station name. 5.
Display options - FM GB Your radio has a range of display options for FM mode:The Radio Data System (RDS) is a system in which inaudible digital information is transmitted in addition to the normal FM radio programme. RDS offers several useful features. The following are available on your radio. All display options except the text display will revert to the clock display after about 10 seconds. 1. Press and release the Info button to cycle through the various options. a.
Stereo / Mono setting - FM Your radio will play stereo FM broadcasts in stereo provided that the received signal is of adequate strength. However, as a stereo signal becomes weaker the audio signal will become poorer. It may be preferable to force the radio to play the station in mono in order to reduce the level of background hiss. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. FM 2. Tune to the required FM radio station as previously described.
Scan sensitivity setting - FM GB Your radio includes a local/distant option for the auto-scan function. By setting the radio to the 'local' scan option, weaker signals from more distant transmitters can be ignored by the radio, making stronger signals easier to find. 1. Press and release the Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. If needed, press and release the Mode button until the FM band is selected. 3. Press and release the Menu button until the Advanced FM menu shows on the display. 4.
Presetting stations - DAB and FM You may store your preferred DAB and FM radio stations to the preset station memories. There are 20 memory presets in your radio 10 for DAB and 10 for FM. Presets are remembered by your radio in the event of a power failure. The procedure for setting presets and using them to tune stations is the same for FM and DAB modes, and is described below. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on the radio. 2. Press the Mode button to select the DAB or FM waveband. 3.
Recalling a preset station- DAB and FM GB 1. Press the Standby button to switch on the radio. 2. Press and release the required waveband by pressing the Mode button. BBC Radio 2 Connecting... 3. Press and release the Preset button and ‘Preset Recall’ shows on the display. 4. Rotate the Tuning control to select the desired preset station. Press the Select button to tune to the chosen preset station stored in the preset memory.
Listening to Bluetooth music You need to pair your Bluetooth device with your radio before you can auto-link to play/ stream Bluetooth music through your DDR-36. Paring creates a `bond' so two devices can recognize each other. Pairing your Bluetooth device for the first time 1. Press the Mode button until the Bluetooth mode is selected. The Bluetooth icon on the panel will flash. 2. Activate Bluetooth on your device according to the device's user manual to link to your DDR-36. 3.
GB 3) If ‘DDR-36’ shows in your Bluetooth device list but your device cannot connect with it, please delete the DDR-36 item from your list and pair the device with DDR-36 again following the steps described previously. 4) The effective operation range between the system and the paired device is approximately 10 meters (30 feet). 5) Any obstacle between the system and the device can reduce the operational range. 6) Different playback functions are available in Bluetooth mode(i.e.
Disconnecting your Bluetooth device Press the Mode button to select any bands other than Bluetooth band or press and hold the Pair button to disconnect the link. If you disconnect the Bluetooth device when you are in Bluetooth mode, the LED light for Bluetooth icon will then start to flash indicating deactivation of Bluetooth. Alarms Your radio has 2 separate alarms which can be set to wake you to DAB, FM radio or buzzer alarm. Each alarm can be set to sound once, daily, on weekdays or at weekends.
Setting an alarm 1. Press and release the Alarm 1 button. ‘Alarm 1 Setup’ will show on the display. Or Press and release the Alarm 2 button. ‘Alarm 2 Setup’ will show on the display. GB Alarm 1 Setup 2. Press the Select button to enter the alarm setup wizard. Alarm status will flash on the display. 3. Rotate the Tuning control to select On or Off. If Off is selected any current setting for that alarm will be cancelled. 4.
9. Rotate the Tuning control to choose the desired source for the alarm (DAB, FM, Buzzer). Press the Select button when the desired source alarm is highlighted on the display. For which ever radio mode is selected, the radio alarm may be set to any of the stations which have been stored as presets or to the station last listened to. 10. If setting the alarm to a radio option, rotate the Tuning control to choose either last listened or from presets 1-10.
GB 15. Rotate the Tuning control to select the correct day and then press the Select button to confirm the setting. 16. Rotate the Tuning control to select the correct month and then press the Select button to confirm the setting. 17. Rotate the Tuning control to select the correct year and then press the Select button to confirm the setting. 18. Rotate the Tuning control to choose the desired volume and press the Select button to confirm the setting.
To view the alarm settings 1. Press and release the Alarm button. 'Alarm 1 Setup' will show on the display. Alarm 1 Setup 2. Or press and release the Alarm 2 button to select alarm number 2. 'Alarm 2 Setup' will show on the display. 3. Press and release the Select button to enter the settings for the chosen alarm. You may use the Tuning controls to modify any particular setting if desired, using the Select button to enter the modification.
Controlling alarms in standby When your radio is in standby, the alarms can be controlled using the Alarm button. This avoids the risk of disturbance to someone who is asleep. 1. To change the states of the alarms when in standby, press and release the Alarm 1 button for alarm 1 or Alarm 2 button for alarm 2. 2. Rotate the Tuning control. The display will cycle through alarm disabled and alarm enabled. GB Alarm 1 Setup Alarm On Alarm 1 Setup Alarm Off 3.
Sleep function Your radio can be set to turn off after a preset time has elapsed. The sleep setting can be adjusted between 15 and 90 minutes. Ensure your radio is switched on. 1. To set the desired sleep time, press and release the Sleep button to enter the sleep setup. 2. Repeatedly press and release the Sleep button to select the desired sleep time. The sleep settings available are 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes.
Setting the clock manually GB Your radio will set its clock automatically using the DAB or FM radio signal. If no signal is available and you need to set the time manually, please follow the procedure shown below. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press and release the Menu button until the Advanced menu shows on the display. 3. Rotate the Tuning control until 'System Setting' appears on the display. Press and release the Select button.
10. Press and release the Select button. The day will flash on the display. 11. Rotate the Tuning control to change the day as needed. 12. Press and release the Select button. The month will flash on the display. 13. Rotate the Tuning control to set the current month. 14. Press and release the Select button. The year will flash on the display. 15. Rotate the Tuning control to set the current year. 16. Press and release the Select button to confirm the clock setting.
Setting the clock format GB The display used in standby mode and when the radio is in use can be set to 12 or 24 hour format. The selected format is then also used when setting the alarms. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press and release the Menu button until the Advanced menu shows on the display. 3. Rotate the Tuning control until 'System Setting' appears on the display. Press and release the Select button. 4. Rotate the Tuning control until 'Time' appears on the display.
To return to auto clock set mode 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press and release the Menu button until the Advanced menu shows on the display. 3. Rotate the Tuning control until 'System Setting' appears on the display. Press and release the Select button. 4. Rotate the Tuning control until 'Time' appears on the display. Press and release the Select button. 5. Rotate the Tuning control until 'Auto update' appears on the display. Press and release the Select button. 6.
Language function GB Your radio can be configured to a different language. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press the Menu button until the Advanced menu shows on the display. 3. Rotate the Tuning control until 'System Setting' appears on the display. Press and release the Select button. 4. Rotate the Tuning control until 'Language' appears on the display. 5. Press and release the Select button to enter the language adjustment menu. 6.
EQ function The sound on radio can be adjusted to suit your personal taste for the material that you are listening to. The DDR-36 has six preset equalizer modes. Alternatively, you may set the treble and bass levels to your own preferences. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on the radio. 2. Press and release the EQ button to enter the setup menu. “Equaliser” will appear on the display. 3. Rotate the Tuning control to cycle through the 6 preset modes below until the desired mode is displayed.
Set up my EQ profile GB If you find the preset equalizer functions not to your liking, you may set up a custom treble and bass as following: 1. Follow step1-3 in the EQ function section in order to enter EQ menu. 2. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘My EQ’ is highlighted on the display. Press the Select button to enter the adjustment mode. 3. Rotate the Tuning control to adjust the treble level (between -5 and +5). The sound will change as you adjust the level.
Mute function Press the Mute button on the remote control of your radio, it will mute the output from the loudspeakers. 1. Press the Mute button to mute the sound output. The speaker volume symbol on the display will disappear. 2. Press the Mute button again or one of the Volume buttons to un-mute the sound output. Software version The software display cannot be altered and is just for your reference. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. DAB 2.

System reset If your radio fails to operate correctly, or some digits on the display are missing or incomplete carry out the following procedure. 1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press the Menu button until the Advanced menu shows on the display and then release the button. 3. Rotate the Tuning control until 'System Setting' appears on the display. Press and release the Select button. 4. Rotate the Tuning control until 'Factory Reset' appears on the display.
Headphone socket GB A 3.5mm Headphone socket located on the rear of your radio is provided for use with headphones. Inserting a plug automatically mutes the internal loudspeaker. Please be aware that the sensitivity of headphones can vary widely. We therefore recommend setting the volume to a low level before connecting headphones to the radio. IMPORTANT: Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss. Line out socket (3.5mm Jack) A 3.
Charging with USB socket The USB jack can only provide power for the USB memory stick only with 1A 5V maximum and most of iPhone models. However, it does not support external Hard disk drive and all of mobile phones and electronic device. Important: Do not connect this USB socket with your PC USB port, as it highly possible may cause breakdown of the units. ● Your radio should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the radio.
