Choose the best location When choosing a location for your new phone, here are some important guidelines you should consider: Notes: • If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, be sure that installing the system does not disable your alarm equipment. • If you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment, contact your telephone company or a qualified installer.

Use a clean pencil eraser or superfine steel wool. Avoid touching the cabinet area of the phone or scratches may occur. Caution: Do not use paint thinner, benzene, alcohol, or other chemical products. Doing so may discolor the surface of the telephone and damage the finish.

If the LED does not illuminate, check to see that the AC adapter is plugged in and the handset makes good contact with the base charging contacts.

However, some phone systems still use pulse dialing such as in rural areas. The default setting is tone dialing. Depending on your dialing system, set the dial mode. To set the dial mode, see “Setting the Dial Mode” on page E32. • If you are not sure of your dialing system, set the unit to tone dialing. Make a trial call.

Wrap the cord inside the molded wiring channel as shown.

When the telephone rings, the Caller ID feature allows you to view the caller’s name, and phone number along with the date and time of call.
