Features Web Management function With this function, you can monitor projector functions such as power status, lamp status, input mode, signal condition, lamp-use time, etc. through the network by using the web browser installed on your computer. Operating Environment Operating Environment To perform the managing and setting of the projector by using this product, the environment described below is required. Expression Expression/Abbreviation The word “projector” found in this manual means “projector provided with Network Unit” unless otherwise noted. The OS of the computer and the Web browser described in this manual is Windows XP Professional and Internet Explorer 6.0. In case of another OS or Web browser, some instruction procedures may differ from the actual operation depending on your computer environment.

Chapter 2 Installation Flow of installation The following are instructions for attaching this product to the projector and connecting it to the network. Please review the entire procedure to become familiar with it. 1 Function of the Network Unit (☞ p.15) Explains the name and functions of each part of the network unit. 2 Installation and network configuration (☞ p.16-21) 1 Mount this product onto the projector. 2 Connect the LAN cable and join it to the network.

Chapter 2 Installation x Installation and Network configuration Mounting 1 Disconnect the AC plug from the projector. Connector cover 2 Remove the connector cover and screw covers from the projector and insert plug on this product to the option connector. Screw cover 3 Tighten two screws by using a coin etc. ! Caution ✐ The AC cord must be disconnected when mounting or removing this product otherwise it may damage the product.
Connection of LAN cable Connection of LAN cable To connect to the network, it is required to use the UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) strait cable with RJ-45 plug. There are two different types of cables depending on whether the network is constructed with 10Base-T or 100Base-TX. Prepare the Hub (10Base-T or 100Base-TX) to distribute the network cable if required. 1 Disconnect the AC plug from the projector. 2 Connect the UTP strait cable to the LAN port on the Network Unit.
Chapter 2 Installation Network configuration Confirmation of the network menu When installing this product to the projector, the network on-screen menu items for this product are activated automatically. If not activated, the product may not have been installed correctly. Please check item “Mounting” (☞ p.16). Configure the network When you connect the projector to the network, the network number of projector must be the same as the network you intend to connect.
Network configuration 2 Configuration for IP Address/ Sub net/ Gateway*/DNS* Press SELECT button again, the following network setting menu appears on the screen. Enter the specified network address. How to enter the numbers There are 2 ways to enter the numbers, one is by using the point buttons (d e 7 8) on the remote control handset or on the projector, the other is by using the screen 10-key pallet by which the numbers can be entered directory. For further information see next page.
Chapter 2 Installation Password setting A password can be set to restrict access to the setting pages of the projector using the web browser. The default password is set “0000” as no password. Network setting 1 Use the projector’s menu and select the Network setting icon on the menu. 2 Select the Network setting sub icon from the submenu, and then press SELECT button once. Check that the mode is “On”. 3 Select the Password sub icon and then press SELECT button once. *The setting window appears.
Network configuration How to enter the numbers with the screen 10-key pallet 1. Select a column with a red frame by using the point buttons 7 8 . 2. Press SELECT button. The screen 10-key pallet appears on the screen. 3. By using the point buttons(d e 7 8), select numbers 0 to 9 and press SELECT button. By repeating the above to enter the complete number on the column. *To change the number in a column, select “C” and press SELECT button to clear the number in the column and then enter the number again.
Chapter 2 Installation c Installing the software It is required to install the software into your computer to use the Network Capture function and Network Viewer function. Please install the following procedure. Note: To install the software into the computer with Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows NT, you should login with administrator rights. Before installation, make sure that the other applications are closed, otherwise proper installation cannot be made.
Installing the software Installed software The following 3 software are installed on your computer. ● Network Capture: Capture the displayed image of the computer and serve it to the projector via the network. This software is registered into “startup folder” of the computer and the capture icon stays on the task bar after booting the computer. Capture icon ● Network Viewer (File Converter 1): Converts the JPEG*1 data format which can be projected with the projector from the JPEG and BMP files.
Chapter 2 Installation File Converter 2 Installation 1 Set the supplied Network Viewer & Capture CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of your computer. Double click SetupDrv.exe icon in the “Driver” folder in the CD-ROM. 2 Select “English [United States]”from the pull-down menu on the language selection window and then click Install button to start installing. Installed software and places Network Viewer (File Converter 2) is installed in the “Printers and Faxes” folder in the “Control Panel”.

Chapter 3 Basic Setting and Operation This chapter describes basic operations and settings for controlling the projector via a network using this product. It is required that computer and projector be connected to the network and the network address be properly configured. Login the setting page of the projector 1 Enter the IP address Launch the web browser installed in your computer, enter the IP address into the “Address” on the browser and the press “Enter” key.
Login the setting page of the projector 3 Display of main setting page The following main setting page will be displayed according to your display mode selection. Perform the various kinds of setting through this page. Click on the menus to display the control and setting pages. z Main setting page in the Graphic Mode display Main menu For selection of control and setting items of the projector. (☞ p.37) Setting page Displays the control and setting items according to the selected menu.

Displays sub menu and status of selected items when clicking the linked text. Returns to the display mode selection page. Setting page number Browses pages by clicking the linked number. Setting page Displays the control and setting items according to the selected menu.
Initial Settings Initial Settings After installing this product to the projector, perform the following basic initial setting. Click Initial Setting on the main menu to display the initial setting page. The Languages, Date/Time, Password and Temperature unit can be set in this page. The model name of the projector on which this product is mounted is displayed on the page. 1 Language Setting Projector’s model name is indicated. This setting is to select the display language of the web page.
Chapter 3 Basic Setting and Operation 2 Password Setting This page is to set the password to restrict the access from an unauthorized person through the network. Enter the password onto the text box and click Set button. The Network Unit begins restarting and it takes about 40 seconds. Close (Quit) the web browser and access to the login page again in 40 seconds. This is to perform the login authentication firmly. The default password [0000] means no password.
Initial Settings 4 Date/Time Setting ENGLISH Click on the page number “2” to display the Time Setting page. Type present date onto the date text area with (Year/Month/Date) format and type present time onto the time text area with (Hour:Minute) format in 24 hours indication. Click Set button and confirm that the data and time are set correctly. The displayed date and time are not updated automatically, click the Refresh button to get the present date and time.
Chapter 3 Basic Setting and Operation Network Configuration Click Network on the main menu. The following setting page is displayed. This page is to set the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS (Domain Name Server) and projector name. 1 Configure the network The IP address and Subnet Mask have been configured already in chapter “Installation”. If you want to change them or configure default gateway*1 or DNS*2, perform them in this page.
E-mail Setting E-mail Setting This product has an E-mail function which can send an alert message to users or an administrator if it detects an abnormality on the projector or run out of the life span of the lamp. Click E-Mail Setting on the main menu and follow the below steps. 1 SMTP Server*1 Type the E-mail address of SMTP server and administrator and click Set button. The administrator address is set to "Reply-To" address sent from the projector. *1 The SMTP server is a server for sending E-Mail.
Chapter 3 Basic Setting and Operation 2 Registering and deleting E-mail addresses Type the E-mail address onto the Mail Address text area and click Set button. To check the registered addresses, click on the Mail Address Check & Delete linked text. The addresses are listed as the figure on the right. To delete the registered addresses, check the address you want to delete and click Delete button. 3 Option selection for sending alert message Click on the Option linked text.
E-mail Setting 4 Condition selection for sending alert message Check the condition items under which alert messages will be sent and click Set button. A free message can be sent when the lamp use time reaches the preselected lamp use time. Check this condition and enter a setting time. Type a free message on “Attached Message” text box and the click Set button. * The length of message should be less than 256 characters. * The lamp use time can be set 0 to 9999 hours.

Chapter 4 Controlling the Projector This chapter describes controlling the projector via a network using this product. Display the main menu following to the login procedure described on page 26. Power on/off the projector Click Power & Status on the main menu. The control page will be displayed. By clicking On or Standby button on the page, the power of the projector can be controlled.
Check the status of projector Check the status of projector In the “Power & Status” page, you can control the projector power, and also you can check the status of the projector as follows. Chapter 4 Controlling the Projector Control the projector The sub control menu appears on the lower side of the page when clicking Control on the main menu. When you click each control icon, the control page is displayed according to the control menu you selected. The setting method differs depending on the contents of the page. Click on the page number linked texts to change pages and select desired setting items.
Control the projector Input This function is to select the input mode and source mode of the projector. Select the input mode with the radio button, and input source mode with the pull-down menu button. Then set the selected input mode and source mode by clicking Set button. Chapter 4 Controlling the Projector PC Adjustment This function is to adjust the signal from the computer connected to the projector to obtain the proper picture image on the screen. Click on the page number linked texts to change the setting pages. Item Description Current Mode ........Displays current mode of the computer. Auto PC Adj. ......Performs automatic adjustment. Fine Sync...........Performs Fine Sync adjustment. Total Dots ..........Adjust the number of total dots in the horizontal period.
Control the projector Save a Set 1 Decide your desired PC adjustment values through the PC Adjustment pages “1”to “2”. 2 Display the page “3” and select a mode number with the pull-down menu button of the Save to. Type a memo into the Memo text area for simply description of your selected number. 3 Register by clicking Set button. To restore the adjustments, click Reset button.
Chapter 4 Controlling the Projector System Adjustment This function is to select the color system of video signal or scanning system of component signal input to the projector. Select a system with the radio buttons to match the color system or scanning system of input source, and then click Set button. The displayed systems are switched according to the input mode. Control the projector Image Adjustment This function is to adjust the projected picture image and set the image mode. For selection of image mode, select a desired image mode with the Image pull-down menu button and then click Set button. The setting items are switched automatically according to selected input mode, computer or video input. To change the setting of each page, click Set button on each page. When clicking Reset button, all of the contents of the pages are reset.
Chapter 4 Controlling the Projector Save an image adjustment value 1 Decide 2 your desired image adjustment value through the image adjustment pages “1” to “3”. Display the page “3” and select the desired image number with the pulldown menu of the Save Adjustment. 3 Register by clicking Set button. To restore the adjustments, click Reset button. The Image1 to Image4 are for the user preset modes to store the image adjustment.
Control the projector Screen This function is to adjust the screen mode of the projector. The setting items are switched automatically according to selected input mode, computer or video input. Item Description Aspect................Changes the screen mode. True* ................Switches the projected image mode. Digital Zoom* ....Adjusts the image zooming or compressing. * These items are only available in the computer input mode. Sound This function is to adjust the sound of the projector.

Item Description Language ..........Changes the on-screen menu language of the projector. Keystone............Corrects the keystone distortion of the projected image on the screen. The status is changed as ON -> STOP -> OFF when this button is clicked repeatedly. Keylock ..............
Chapter 4 Controlling the Projector Item Description Actual Time........Displays the current time set to the projector. Timer Setting ....Function to switch on or off the projector at the programmed date and time. Please see item “How to set the Timer” for further instructions. How to set the Timer This function is used to turn the projector off or on at a programmed day/date and time. Follow the below steps for setting.
Control the projector 2 Set a time Type the time with (Hour:Minute) and 24 hours format. Ex.: Type [18:25] if you specify [PM 6 o’clock and 25 minutes]. 3 Select an event “ON” or “OFF”. Select an event ON or OFF with the pull-down menu button to turn on or off the projector. 4 Register an event Click Set button to register the set timer event. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for another timer event setting. Check the Timer events To check the set timer events, click on the Timer Check linked text.
Chapter 4 Controlling the Projector Notes on timer setting ✐ Up to 10 timer events can be registered. Timer events always operate according to the next valid event depending on the projector's power status. In the example below, event 3 turns on the projector so next event 4 (also turning on projector) will not be effective because the projector is already turned on. Similarly, when the projector is turned off by event 5, event 6 OFF will not be effective in turning it off again.
Control the projector Service ENGLISH This function sets the cooling fan speed of the projector. Set proper fan speed depending on the installation environment. Select “Normal” or “Maximum” with the pull-down menu button and click Set button.
Chapter 4 Controlling the Projector Save Actual Adjustment This function is to save and load the control values of the projector. The storable control items are Input, PC, System, Image and Screen controls, and these control items differ from each selected input mode and functions of the projector you use. 1 Adjust and set the controls Set the controls properly according to the selected source. (see pages 41-47 for further adjustment) 2 Select the Save page Click on the Save icon from the control menu.

The contents of the pages may differ from the actual depending on the selected input mode and the function of the projector.

It is convenient to use as a memo for the simple description where the projector is placed in. This note will be displayed on the login page. The saved memo is displayed on the login page. ✐ The data of the memo is stored into the network unit.

Chapter 5 Network Viewer & Capture Using the Network Capture function The Network Capture is a function to project the screen images of the computer by the projector via the network by using the Network Viewer software. Up to 10 computers can be registered and the capture images of the computer projected by the projector can be selected by the Network Capture software in the computer, web browser and projector. *The network capture function cannot be used when using the network viewer function.
Network Capture 4 Click Search button to list up the available IP address assign to the projector and select desired IP address you use, or you can enter the IP address manually if you know that IP address. 5 Set the quality of the image. Quality: Selects from High, Mid, Low Image Magnification: If checked, the screen image size of the computer is automatically adjusted to the projector’s screen size. 6 Click OK button to close the setting window.

Network Capture Registering the computers Up to 10 computers can be registered. To register a computer, on the Network Capture setting page, click the page number “2” or “3” linked text to change to “Connection Setting” page and enter the IP address of the computer to the PC number, and then click Set button. * The registered computer starts capturing if only the Network Capture icon appears on the task bar. Chapter 5 Network Viewer & Capture Advanced using example Displays the presentation data stored in the computer by using the wireless mouse function from the projector. 1 Start capturing of the computer PC1 by using the projector. Select “Network Capture” icon from the menu and select “PC1” and then select “Connect” (☞ p.63). => The Network Capture software installed in the selected computer will start capturing.
File Converter Create the available data [File Converter] The image available with this projector is the JPEG format. There are several types of JPEG data. Before using the images with the Network Viewer function, it should be converted to the optimized JPEG data for this projector. [1] How to use the Network Viewer (File Converter 1) The File Converter 1 is a software to convert from the JPEG data or bitmap data to the optimized JPEG data for the projector.
Chapter 5 Network Viewer & Capture Converting procedure 1 Select a folder in which the image files are stored by the explorer window. The preview images of the available image data (JPEG file, BMP file) in the selected folder are displayed on the preview window. * On the preview window, the preview displayed with the red frame represents a file not optimized JPEG file or BMP file for the projection. The preview without the red frame represents the optimized JPEG file for the projection.
File Converter Setting of conversion mode When clicking Change button on the confirmation window in the step 3 on the previous page, following option setting window appears. Conversion type: Fit ......................Converts as either width or height of the image sets to be the maximum screen width or height. Justify[both ends]....Converts as width of the image sets to be the maximum screen width. Justify[top and bottom] ..........................
Chapter 5 Network Viewer & Capture [2] How to use the Network Viewer (File Converter 2) The File Converter 2 is a kind of the printer driver software to convert to the optimized JPEG data for the projection from the any documents created by the other software such as text editor, spreadsheet or presentation software. It is possible to convert to the JPEG file from the any kinds of documents created by the software which has a “print” menu.
Program Editor Making a program file [Program Editor] Network Viewer (Program Editor) is a tool to make a program file specify the stored information of the JPEG images in the file server (ftp server) and the order of the display images. Program Editor makes a folder “DispParam” at the login root directory in the file server and makes files as each program name into this folder. These files are called as “Program”.
Chapter 5 Network Viewer & Capture The setting window disappears and then the programs are listed on the window if there are program files at the login directory in the connected ftp server. 4 Click New button. 5 Enter a program name and click Add button. Change : Changes the contents of the program file. Delete : Deletes the program from the list. 6 The folder selection window appears and select a folder in which the JPEG data are stored and then click Add button to register into the folder lists.
Program Editor The limitation of the Program file There are several limitations for the program file as follows; * Number of programs in a root folder is less than 1000. * Number of folders in a program is less than 100. * Total characters of folder name is less than 255. * Total characters of program file name is less than 63. * Do not make a program name started with “.”. * Do not make a program name contained with following characters: \/:,;*?“<>| * The program name started with “ “(space) is registered
Chapter 5 Network Viewer & Capture Using the Network Viewer function The Network Viewer is a function to acquire and project the JPEG image data on the screen from the file servers placed in the network. The projected image data are specified with the folder unit. You can set the display period and repeating times, and also you can register those folders as the program. *The network viewer function cannot be used when using the network capture function.
Network Viewer Select input mode to “Network” previously. 1 Access to the control page on the projector by using the web browser. From the main menu, click Network Viewer to display the setting page. 2 Setup the setting page [1] of the Visual Display. Host name ....Enter the name of ftp server, yourftp.server etc. Folder Path ..Use “/”(root directory) in normal, or enter the directory name follow the “/” as shown in the below example if you have a specified directory in the server. /data/ User ID ........

Chapter 6 Controlling the Multi-Projectors Display the main menu following to the login procedure described on page 26. Multi-Control This function enables to control the multiple projectors equipped with the Network Units that are connected to the network at the same time. Click Multi Control on the main menu to display the control page. Note: To control the multiple projectors, each projector must has the same password.

Chapter 7 Use of Serial Port This product provides a serial control port (RS-232C) to control the external equipment which has an RC-232C port. This function allows external equipment to be controlled by the computer through the network and the projector can be controlled by the external serial controller. Before connecting the external equipment, perform the setting “Serial port setting” described below. Serial Port setting This is to set up the serial port on the network unit.

Chapter 7 Use of Serial Port Use of Telnet You can control the equipment connected to the serial port on the network unit and the projector itself by using the telnet application*1 installed on your computer. The following is a control example of external equipment. The telnet application is needed to use commands*2 which controls the external equipment. Preparation 1 Turn the projector off with the mains switch and connect an external equipment to the serial port with an RS-232C serial cable.
Use of telnet 3 When communication is established, the word “PASSWORD:” appears on the window. Type the login password* for the projector and then press “Enter” key on the keyboard. If you do not register the login password, just press “Enter” key. When the word “Hello” is replied, login has been succeeded. * For example, entering password [1234] 4 Type the commands from the key board to control the external equipment and then enter “Enter” key for termination.
Chapter 7 Use of Serial Port Control the projector with Telnet This product allows you to control the projector by using the Telnet application. Normally, it is used for controlling the external equipment connected to the serial port and also control the projector itself by specifying the telnet port no.10000. * It is not affected by the serial port setting of the projector when using the telnet application. Chapter 8 Appendix Web browser setting This product is designed to enable the projector to be set up and controlled from an Internet web browser. Depending on the preference settings of the web browser, some control functions may not be available. Please make sure that the following functions are set up properly in the web browser. Chapter 8 Appendix FAQ Installation/Access Q Why doesn’t the setting page appear in my web browser? A Following causes are possible. Please check them. 1. The projector does not connect to the network. Check LED indicators status (☞ p.15). - Check the connection of LAN cable if the LINK indicator does not illuminate orange. - Check the network configuration of the projector if ACT indicator does not illuminate green. 2. Function “Network” in the projector is not set to“ON”.
FAQ 3. Enter the projector’s IP address [192.168.0.2] at “Address” column on the Web browser. [Note] Make sure that the proxy setting of your web browser is set “Not use a proxy server” (☞ p.96). 4. If the login page appears, this product is operating properly. The problems may be in the network configuration of the computer or in the network. Please try to set up the network by following item “Network configuration” (☞ p.18).

FAQ Operation Q Why can't I change the controls in the setting page with web browser? A Please make sure the projector is turned on. If it is in the standby mode, the setting is not effective to the projector. To control the projector with a web browser, the projector must be in the powered-on condition. Also, projectors registered for multi-control cannot have any controls changed if they are in standby mode. But timer and clock settings are always effective, even for projectors in standby mode.
Chapter 8 Appendix Q Why am I not receiving E-mail alert messages? A Make sure that the registered E-mail address and SMTP server address are correct. If the SMTP server is located in your LAN (Local Area network), the address should be set to the SMTP server in your LAN. The SMTP server located outside of your LAN may not be available for security reason. For further information please contact your network administrator (☞ p.33). It may be required for the authentication depending on the SMTP server.
FAQ Q Can I update the firmware of the Network Unit. It is possible to update the firmware through the network. It is required to have a special tool for the updating. For further information please consult your local dealer. The version number of the firmware is indicated on the lower part of the“Initial Setting” page.
Chapter 8 Appendix Q What are the rules for IP address assignment? A If the network is constructed with TCP/IP protocol, a unique IP address is required for each piece of network equipment. The following are basic rules of the assignment. Rule1 Do not configure the same IP address to the network equipment in the same network group. Each piece of equipment must be assigned a unique IP address. If the IP address is set [192.168.x.x], the Subnet Mask should be set [255.255.255.0] for example.
FAQ Network Capture Q Why doesn’t the computer screen appear on the projected screen? A 1. Make sure that the input mode of the projector is “Network”. 2.
