Commissioning
4–8 975-0601-01-01 Revision B
This chapter is for use by qualified personnel and authorized service personnel only.
5. With an appropriate voltmeter, use the positive (+, red) voltmeter probe on
TB3 and the negative (-, black) voltmeter probe on TB5 ground. Measuring
the correct polarity is important.
On a negative grounded system the voltage should read between
+300 VDC and +600 VDC.
On a positive grounded system the voltage should read between
-300 VDC and -600 VDC.
6. If the results from the previous step are not within the voltage range or they
are the wrong polarity, the DC field wiring has been installed incorrectly and
must be repaired and verified before commissioning can proceed.
7. If results are within the correct range, continue with the commissioning
procedure steps.
8. Confirm all measurement equipment, meters, and probes are removed safely
from the Xantrex GT500 and immediate work area.
9. De-energize the Xantrex GT500 by following the “Lock-out and Tag-out
Procedure” on page xi.
10. Re-install the DC barrier by sliding the DC barrier from the inverter assembly
back into place, and then securing it with the four screws as shown in Figure
3-19 on page 3–25. Note that the two top screws are not visible in the
photograph. They are on top of the barrier, in line with the screws on the
bottom.
11. Close and latch all transformer and inverter assembly doors.
WARNING
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Before correcting the wiring, de-energize, lock out, and tag out all sources.
See “Lock-out and Tag-out Procedure” on page xi.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or serious injury.
