This chapter is for use by qualified personnel and authorized service personnel only.
System Startup
Follow either “Prepare for Startup When Auxiliary AC Power is Not Provided
Externally” or “Prepare for Startup When Auxiliary AC Power is Provided
Externally” depending on your installation, and then continue with “Starting the
System” to complete system startup.
Prepare for Startup When Auxiliary AC Power is Not Provided Externally
To prepare the AC circuit breaker for startup when auxiliary power is not
provided externally:
1. Open the transformer assembly’s left door.
2. Verify CB3 is closed in the transformer assembly.
3. Close all transformer and inverter assembly doors and tighten all latches.
Prepare for Startup When Auxiliary AC Power is Provided Externally
To prepare for startup when auxiliary power is provided externally:
1. Open the transformer assembly’s left door.
2. Verify CB3 and CB4 are closed in the transformer assembly.
3. Close all transformer and inverter assembly doors and tighten all latches.
4. Make sure the
ENABLE/DISABLE switch is in the DISABLE position.
5. Apply auxiliary AC power voltage by switching on the external auxiliary AC
power disconnect device.
6. Listen for sounds of arcing, loud 60 Hz humming, or popping noises within
the Xantrex GT500. If these sounds are heard, quickly de-energize the AC
auxiliary power at the external disconnect switch, follow the “Lock-out and
Tag-out Procedure” on page xi, and then contact customer service.
DANGER
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
Thoroughly inspect the installed equipment, and verify that all tools, loose
parts, and installation equipment have been removed from the Xantrex
GT500 before energizing.
Make sure all barriers have been properly replaced before energizing any
circuits.
Make sure all doors on the Xantrex GT500 are closed and latched before
proceeding.
Do not energize the Xantrex GT500 if any barriers are missing or damaged.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
