Troubleshooting Common Issues
To troubleshoot commonly encountered issues, look up the issue in the
troubleshooting table below for possible solutions. If you’re unable to find the
issue, Contact Customer Service for further assistance. Please be prepared to
describe details of your system installation and provide the model and serial
number of the unit. See page 1–i for contact information.
Table 5-1 Troubleshooting Common Issues
Problem Possible cause Solution(s)
The Battery Monitor
doesn't operate (no
display)
Battery not connected or battery
voltage low.
Check Battery Monitor and battery side
connections.
Check battery voltage. Battery might be
flat. Vbatt must be >18 VDC.
Current readout gives
wrong polarity (e.g.
positive current
instead of negative
when discharging)
Current sense leads from the shunt
are reversed.
Confirm proper wiring of leads using the
installation guide.
The Battery Monitor
resets frequently.
Battery might be flat or defective. Check the wiring for corrosion and / or
loose contacts.
No changes can be
made in the Function
setup.
The Battery Monitor might be locked
by the setup lock function.
Check that the setup lock function is
OFF (Function F3.5).
Ask the installer for the password to
unlock the monitor.
“Charge” or
“Synchronize” keeps
flashing on LCD
display.
Battery is not fully charged.
Incorrect parameters.
Charge battery full (synchronize your
battery with the monitor).
Check the Auto-sync parameters in
Functions
F1.0, F1.1,
and
F1.2
for
possible incorrect settings.
State-of-charge and/
or time-to-go readout
not accurate.
Charger or Load connected directly
to Battery negative
Current sense leads from the shunt
are reversed.
Battery Monitor needs to be
synchronized.
Connect all charger and load negative
terminals to the system negative side of
the shunt.
Check all Battery properties Functions
(F2)
Check if Battery Monitor is
synchronized.
Display returns '----'
in temperature
readout
Connection with temperature sensor
is lost.
Check for failed connections and/or
cable damage.
