DC CONNECTION PRECAUTIONS 5.1 Connect and disconnect the DC output clips only after removing the AC plug from the electrical outlet. Never allow the clips to touch each other. 5.
8. GROUNDING AND AC POWER CORD CONNECTIONS RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK OR FIRE. 8.1 This battery charger is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounded plug that looks like the plug illustrated. The charger must be grounded to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. The plug pins must fit the receptacle (outlet). Do not use with an ungrounded system. 8.
NOTE: When charging a battery that is not marked, check the manual of the item which uses the battery for the correct battery type. Make sure the battery complies with the safety instructions in Section 2.4. Charge Rate Button Use the Charge Rate button to select the charge rate or engine starting setting you require. • SMALL BATTERY – Provides a charge rate of up to 2A. Intended for charging small batteries such as those commonly used in garden tractors, snowmobiles and motorcycles.
Using the Engine Start feature Your battery charger can be used to jumpstart your car if the battery is low. Follow these instructions on how to use the ENGINE START feature. IMPORTANT: Follow all safety instructions and precautions for charging your battery. Wear complete eye protection and clothing protection. Charge your battery in a wellventilated area. IMPORTANT: Using the ENGINE START feature WITHOUT a battery installed in the vehicle could cause damage to the vehicle’s electrical system. 1.
3. If necessary, press the BATTERY TYPE button until the correct type is indicated. 4. Read the voltage on the digital display or press the Display Mode button to set the tester to BATTERY % to read the voltage as a percent of charge. Tester and Charger: When first turned on, the unit operates only as a tester, not as a charger. To continue to use it only as a tester, avoid pressing the BATTERY SIZE button. Selecting a charge rate activates the battery charger and deactivates the tester.

If the vehicle will only be operated for a short period (short drive), the battery might need to be charged again before it could start the vehicle again. • Completing an interrupted charge – Once the battery has reached 85% charge, if the charging process is interrupted and restarted, the charger could go straight into Maintain Mode.
PROBLEM Short or no start cycle when cranking engine. POSSIBLE CAUSE REASON/SOLUTION Drawing more amps than the charger can provide. Crank time varies with the amount of current drawn. If cranking draws more amps than the charger can provide, crank time may be less than 3 seconds. Failure to wait 3 minutes (180 seconds) between cranks. Wait 3 minutes of rest time before the next crank. Clips are not making a good connection. Check for poor connection at battery and frame.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE REASON/SOLUTION The CHARGED (green) LED lights a few minutes after connecting to the battery. The battery may be fully charged or recently charged, leaving the battery voltage high enough to appear to be fully charged. If the battery is in a vehicle, turn the headlights on for a few minutes to reduce the battery voltage and try charging again. The incorrect BATTERY TYPE may have been selected.

10. PANEL DE CONTROL Pantalla digital La Pantalla Digital muestra indicio de voltaje, % de carga o de salida del alternador, según el Modo de Pantalla escogido. Botón Display Mode (Modo de pantalla) Utilice este botón para establecer la función de la pantalla digital en una de las siguientes opciones: • % de batería: la pantalla digital muestra un porcentaje de carga estimado de la batería conectada a los ganchos de batería pertenecientes al cargador.
11. INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN Carga 1. Conectar la batería teniendo en cuenta las precauciones que figuran en las Secciones 6 y 7. 2. Conecte la energía eléctrica de CA teniendo en cuenta las precauciones que figuran en la Sección 8. 3. Seleccione las configuraciones apropiadas para la batería. Notas generales sobre la carga Ventilador: El cargador está diseñado para controlar el ventilador de refrigeración para un funcionamiento eficiente. 3.4 Ajoutez de l’eau distillée dans chaque élément de batterie jusqu’à que le niveau d’acide atteigne celui spécifié par le fabricant de la batterie. Ne pas faire déborder. Pour une batterie dont les éléments n’ont pas de bouchons, comme les « VRLA » (accumulateur au plomb-acide à régulation par soupape) suivez attentivement les directives de chargement du fabricant. 3.

10. PANNEAU DE CONTRÔLE Affichage numérique L’affichage digital donne une indication de la tension, du % de charge ou de la sortie en % de l’alternateur, en fonction du mode d’affichage choisi. Bouton du mode d’affichage Utilisez ce bouton pour sélectionner une des fonctions de l’affichage numérique suivantes : • % Batterie – L’affichage numérique montre un pourcentage de chargement estimé de la batterie connectée aux pinces du chargeur.
11. CONSIGNES D’UTILISATION Le chargement 1. Connectez la batterie en suivant les précautions décrites dans la section 6 et 7. 2. Connectez le cordon CA en suivant les précautions décrites à la section 8. 3. Sélectionnez les paramètres appropriés pour votre batterie. NOTE : si vous pressez sur n’importe quel bouton pendant la charge le processus chargeant s’arrêtera et l’Étalage Numérique OFF L’annoncera.
1. Avec le chargeur débranché de la prise de courant CA, connectez le chargeur à la batterie en suivant les directives données dans la section 6. 2. Branchez le cordon CA du chargeur dans la prise de courant CA. 3. Avec le chargeur branché et connecté à la batterie du véhicule, positionnez le bouton du taux de chargement sur la position aide-démarrage. 4. Lancez le moteur jusqu’à ce qu’il démarre ou pendant 5 secondes. Si le moteur ne démarre pas, attendez 3 minutes avant de le relancer.
3. Si nécessaire, appuyez sur le bouton TYPE DE BATTERIE jusqu’à ce que le bon type s’inscrive. 4. Lisez la tension sur l’affichage numérique ou appuyez sur le bouton Mode d’Affichage pour mettre le testeur sur % BATTERIE et lire la tension en pourcentage de charge. Testeur et chargeur : Au démarrage, l’appareil fonctionne seulement comme un testeur, pas un chargeur. Pour continuer à l’utiliser comme un testeur, n’appuyez pas sur le bouton TAUX DE CHARGEMENT.
Tension : La tension affichée pendant le chargement est la tension de chargement et est généralement plus haute que la tension au repos de la batterie. Conseils sur le chargement Lisez le manuel entier avant d’utiliser le chargeur de batterie. Les conseils suivants ne doivent être vus que comme un guide pour des situations spécifiques. • Si votre véhicule ne démarre pas – Il n’est pas nécessaire de recharger entièrement votre batterie pour démarrer votre véhicule.
PROBLÈME CAUSE POSSIBLE RAISON/SOLUTION Le chargeur produit un fort bourdonnement ou ronflement. Les lamelles du transformateur vibrent (bourdonnement). Cycle de démarrage court ou non existant quand on lance le moteur. Tire plus d’ampères que le chargeur ne peut en fournir. Le temps de lancement varie avec le montant de courant consommé. Si le lancement consomme plus d’ampères que le chargeur ne peut en fournir, le temps de lancement peut être inférieur à 3 secondes.
