Instruction Manual. SHOCK CUB 35-55cc INTRODUCTION Thank you for choosing the SHOCK CUB 35-55cc ARTF by SG MODELS . The SHOCK CUB 35-55cc was designed with the intermediate/advanced sport flyer in mind. It is a semi scale airplane which is easy to fly and quick to assemble. The airframe is conventionally built using balsa, plywood to make it stronger than the average ARTF, yet the design allows the aeroplane to be kept light. You will find that most of the work has been done for you already.

13. 1. Flap control horn Ailerons control horn Use sandpaper to scuff the bottom of the aileron and flap control horns. Use a paper towel and isopropyl alcohol to remove any oils or debris from the control horns. 14. 2. 15. Check the fit of the control horns to the aileron and flap. They should rest flush against the control surface as shown. 3. INSTALL THE AILERONS CONTROL HORN Locate the aileron and flap control horns.
Instruction Manual. SHOCK CUB 35-55cc Place low-tack tape 1/32 inch (1mm) from the control horn slot. This will prevent epoxy from getting on the control surface when the control horns are glued in place. 6. Epoxy 4. Remove the control horns from the control surfaces. Apply epoxy to the slot in the aileron and flap. Make sure the epoxy gets into the slot for a good bond between the surfaces and control horn. Before the epoxy fully cures, remove the tape from around the control horn.
2. Minimum servo spec. Torque : 122 oz-in (8.8 kg-cm) @ 6.0V; 139 oz-in (10.0 kg-cm) @ 7.4V Epoxy Because the size of servos differ, you may need to adjust the size of the precut opening in the mount. The notch in the sides of the mount allow the servo lead to pass through. 3. Place the servo between the mounting blocks and space it from the hatch. Use a pencil to mark the mounting hole locations on the blocks. 3. Flap control horn INSTALLING THE AILERON SERVOS 1.
Instruction Manual. SHOCK CUB 35-55cc Remove the string from the wing at the servo location and use the tape to attach it to the servo extension lead. Pull the lead through the wing and remove the string. 5. 9. C/A glue Use dental floss to secure the connection so they cannot become unplugged. 6. 10. Secure the servo to the aileron hatch using Phillips screwdriver and the screws provided with the servo. 7. 11. Apply 1-2 drops of thin C/A to each of the mounting tabs.
Set the aileron hatch in place and use a Phillips screw driver to install it with four wood screws. 13. 2. 140mm M3x10mm 3. M3 clevis M3 lock nut 162mm 4. 14. Instruction Manual. SHOCK CUB 35-55cc 32. 1. Collar 33. Carefully bend the second nylon tube up at a 45º angle. This tube is the vent tube. Test fit the stopper assembly into the tank. It may be necessary to remove some of the flashing around the tank opening using a modeling knife. If flashing is present, make sure none falls into the tank. With the stopper assembly in place, the weighted pick-up should rest away from the rear of the tank and move freely inside the tank.
You should mark which tube is the vent and which is the fuel pickup when you attach fuel tubing to the tubes in the stopper. Once the tank is installed inside the fuselage, it may be difficult to determine which is which. 4. 7mm MOUNTING THE ENGINE Please see below pictures. 1. 5. 2. 6. 3. 7.

The vent line will connect to the muffler and the line from the clunk tothe carburetor. 160mm 13. Blow through one of the lines to ensure the fuel lines have not become kinked inside the fuel tank compartment. Air should flow through easily. 10. 18 14.
COWLING 4. Please see below pictures. 1. Use a drill and drill bit to drill the holes for the cowl mounting screws. Make sure the cowl position is correct before drilling each hole. 2. 5. 2mm 3. 6. Tape the cowl to the fuselage using low-tack tape.
Instruction Manual. SHOCK CUB 35-55cc 7. ELECTRIC POWER CONVERSION Locate the items neccessary to install the electric power conversion included with your model. M3x10mm 1. Because of the size of the cowl, it may be necessary to use a needle valve extension for the high speed needle valve. Make this out of sufficient length 1.5mm wire and install it into the end of the needle valve. Secure the wire in place by tightening the set screw in the side of the needle valve. 8.
3. 7. Mark 4. 5. 6. 7mm 8. 5mm 9. Attach the motor mount to the front of the electric motor box using four 5mm blind nut, four M5x30mm hex head bolts to secure the motor. Please see picture shown.

The propeller should not touch any part of the spinner cone. If it does, use a sharp modeling knife and carefully trim away the spinner cone where the propeller comes in contact with it.
2. 3. HINGING THE ELEVATORS Glue the elevator hinges in place using the same techniques used to hinge the ailerons. ELEVATOR AND STABILIZER INSTALLATION 1. 1. With the stabilizer held firmly in place, use a pen and draw lines onto the stabilizer where it and the fuselage sides meet. Do this on both the right and left sides and top and bottom of the stabilizer. INSTALL ELEVATOR CONTROL HORN 1. 2. Fiberglass control horn 2. Epoxy Remove the stabilizer.
Instruction Manual. SHOCK CUB 35-55cc 3. 5. When cutting through the covering to remove it, cut with only enough pressure to only cut through the covering itself. Cutting into the balsa structure may weaken it. 6. Using a modeling knife, carefully remove the covering that overlaps the stabilizer mounting platform sides in the fuselage. Remove the covering from both the top and the bottom of the platform sides.
Fit the elevator so the leading edge fis tightly against the trailing edge of the stabilizer. If you find epoxy on the joiner wire, use the paper towel and isopropyl alcohol to clean the joiner. 8. 11. Use a pin vise and 1/16-inch (1.5mm) drill bit to drill a hole in the center of each hinge slot to allow the CA to wick into the hinge. Drill holes in both the elevators and stabilizer surfaces at this time. Place a T-pin in the center of each hinge along side the slot in the hinge.
Instruction Manual. SHOCK CUB 35-55cc Flex the elevator slightly, making sure to keep the gap between the elevator and stabilizer as narrow as possible. Saturate each of the hinges using thin CA. Apply CA to the top of the hinges. INSTALL RUDDER CONTROL HORN Repeat steps to install the rudder control horn as same as steps done for ailerons. 1. 14. C/A glue Fiberglass control horn 2. Gently pull on the fied and moving surface to make sure the hinges are glued securely.
Thread one clevis and M2 lock nut on to each elevator control rod. Thread the horns on until they are flush with the ends of the control rods. 2. C/A glue Elevator and rudder pushrods assembly as pictures below. 2. 3. Locate items necessaryto install rudder pushrod. 3. 910mm ELEVATOR PUSHROD INSTALLATION Install the elevator control horn using the same method as with the aileron control horns. 4.
