Calibration Summary 1. 2. 3. 4. Power up Remote Calibration console. Select Desired Meter to calibrate and select. Prime Roller. Begin Calibration and enter weight of product. Attention: Exit to the Seed Hawk Viper Pro Main Menu on the Viper monitor before powering up the Remote Calibration Console.
Meter Calibration & Procedures NOTE: For convenient calibration, use the remote calibration console that attaches to the tank harness. Meter calibration is a procedure that allows for accurately setting the individual meters to apply the desired rate of material. Before a meter calibration can be done the implement width must be entered and the speed calibration must be completed (See Section Setup Wizard and Calculating the speed Calibration sections of your Seed Hawk Viper Proβ’ Manual).
To begin the remote calibration of the meters mount the remote calibration console on the ram-ball and attach the electrical connector. Turn the console on using the blue power button. After turning on the remote calibration console displays the bin selection screen. Using the soft keys select the bin which corresponds to meter to be calibrated and press enter. This will bring up the calibration screen for that particular bin. SETUP brings up an additional menu with supplementary options.
Pressing the SETUP soft key brings up this screen. Turning decimal shift off will reduce the accuracy from two decimal places to one decimal place. Meter cal is the number of pulses per revolution. This number is dependent on the encoder inside the hydraulic motor and should not be changed from the default value of 60. Measure and record the weight of the empty calibration bucket. Remove the plate on the bottom of the meter and place the calibration bucket under the meter as shown.
Pressing BEGIN from the calibration screen brings up this screen. The meter needs to be primed before calibration begins to ensure full product flow during calibration. Select prime meter roller to prime the meter. Empty the product out of the calibration bucket this is not needed for the rest of the calibration procedure. Select start calibration to continue with the meter calibration. Selecting set bin height brings up another screen to specify the bin height for the bin level sensor.
Information is instantly sent to the Seed Hawk Viper Pro monitor. After all meters are calibrated Power down the Remote tank calibration console and disconnect from tank harness. DO NOT leave the Remote tank calibration console attached to the tank exposed to the weather. Note: It is recommended to repeat the calibration to avoid operator error.
Rate Check tips: β’ Weighing the product going into the tank will ensure greater accuracy. β’ Initial tank level check should be done after metering some product so a V-formation forms inside the tank. This will make for more accurate tank level check. β’ Use attached operator worksheets for keeping important information documented ie; cal weights, seeding rates, gearbox settings etc.
Rate Check Product Application Rate Check Calculation Seed size, seed type, seed coatings, seeding speed, product settling and other variables all have an effect on the actual product application rate (To use this method you MUST know the density (lb/cu.ft) of the product being calibrated). This Rate Check calculation compares actual weight of product seeded to actual acres applied. Step 1: Fill tank to a known level, or a known amount of product.
Example 1: Target Rate: 135 lb/ac Cal Weight: 3.5 lb/rev Acres Applied (A): 8 acres Weight of Product Used : 1160lbs (Density of product (lb/cu.ft) x Volume of Product Used (cu.ft) Actual Rate ππππβπ‘ ππ πππππ’ππ‘ ππ ππ = π΄ππππ π΄ππππππ = 1160 8 Actual Rate: 145 lb/ac Correction Factor = π΄ππ‘π’ππ π
ππ‘π ππππππ‘ π
ππ‘π = 145 135 = = Correction Factor (CF) = 1.074 Adjust Cal Weight = πΆππ. ππππβπ‘ Γ πΆππππππ‘πππ πΉπππ‘ππ = 3.5 Γ 1.074 = New Cal Weight: 3.
