I. Button Functions If you install Starter only or Alarm only, your functionality will be limited accordingly. Alarm/Starter Combo units will have all of the functions listed hereunder. 1. I for 0.5 Seconds – Lock/Unlock – Tapping this button for a split second will lock/arm and unlock/disarm your CompuStar system. 2. C. Hold down valet switch for 1.5 seconds. The LED on the switch will begin to flash rapidly. D. Tap the button on the switch to enter first number of 2-digit code. LED will flash the first number slowly. E. Once the LED begins flashing rapidly tap the button on the switch to enter the second number. F. Turn ignition off and Valet Switch is now programmed. G. To enter valet mode follow steps 3 to 5 H.
13. Button II+IV – Timer Start On/Off – By activating this feature, you turn on the time start or hot/cold starting. This must be set after you close the vehicle door. If you remote start or start the vehicle with the key then it cancels this mode. Consult your installer. Timer Start – Your installer can give you 3 choices – 3 hr, 1.5 hr or Reservation. Example. If your installer sets up 3 hours and you turn on this option with II+IV, your car will start every 3 hours for 4 minutes until cancelled.
II. Diagnostic Messages 1. Whenever the system fails to remote start, the vehicle provides you Diagnostic Error Messages: # of times parking lights flash. (2 Way LCD Remotes will show Strt Er##.
III. Manual Transmission Vehicles To use the remote-start function on a manual transmission vehicle, you must first set Reservation Mode. Reservation mode sets the vehicle up to safely start the next time you use the remote-start. To set Reservation Mode, follow these steps: 1. Completely stop the vehicle and put it in NEUTRAL. 2. Set the emergency brake and remove your foot from the foot brake. 3. A few seconds later you should hear a “click”. 4. Turn the key off and remove it from the ignition.
IV. Additional Features 1. RPS UNLOCK The RPS must be programmed in order to have the coded unlock and disarm feature on your CompuStar. This can be used in the event you lose your remote or destroy it. This programming can only be done if the CompuStar is disarmed. 1) RPS default code is 3,3,0,0 2) Leave driver’s door open. Turn key to the ignition on position. 3) Knock on RPS a total of 10 times.
Additional installation may be required for this feature. This feature prevents a thief from stealing your car once they drive off. In the event that you are car jacked and have your CompuStar remote in hand you just panic the system. After 30 seconds of panic your vehicle will shut off and the thief will not be able to restart. 9. Factory Alarm Option (Only Available on Starter Only Systems) Additional installation may be required for this feature.
V. Remote Icons Common Icons – These icons are used on all systems that use this remote. Lock/Arm – Unlock/Disarm This icon indicates whether the alarm locked/armed or unlocked/disarmed. While armed, the system will monitor the doors, trunk, hood, shock sensor, and aux inputs. If any of these inputs are triggered while the system is armed, the alarm will be triggered. Trunk Release This icon will be displayed when the trunk release function has been activated.
Hood This icon will be displayed if the hood is opened while the system is armed. The remote will beep rapidly while displaying this icon. This means that the alarm was triggered. If this icon appears while trying to remote-start the vehicle, it means that the vehicle will not start because the hood is open. Impact This icon will be displayed if an impact to the vehicle is detected while the system is armed.
Shock Sensor Bypassed This icon will be displayed when the shock sensor is bypassed by pressing buttons I+III for 2.5 sec. Impact to the vehicle will not be detected at this time. This icon is always displayed on starter only systems because there is no shock sensor.
Safety Information Please take these safety precautions under the following conditions: 1. Servicing the vehicle When servicing (i.e. changing the oil, washing your car) your vehicle, the CompuStar system should be placed in Valet Mode. There is a safety shutdown switch under the hood that deactivates the remote starter function if the hood is open. However, if the switch has been damaged or has been installed improperly, the vehicle may start when the key button is held down for 2.
