Problem Cause Correction
Upper thread breaks
1. The machine is not threaded correctly.
2. Th
e thread tension is too tight.

e thread is too thick for the needle.

ethread the machine.

educe the thread tension (lower

Lower thread breaks
1. The bobbin case is not inserted

turn smoothly.

emove and reinsert the bobbin case
and p
ull on the thread. The thread should
pull easily.

heck both the bobbin and the bobbin
case.

lean the bobbin case.

hange the bobbin.
Skipped stitches
1. The needle is not inserted properly.

e needle is damaged.

emove and reinsert the needle (flat side

Needle breaks
1. The needle is damaged.

e needle is not correctly inserted.

e pattern selector dial was turned

e needle was still in the fabric.

The machine is noisy
1. The machine needs to be lubricated.

n case. Turn the hand wheel

rds and forwards by hand and

e thread remains. Lubricate as
described.
