Controlling the Monitor with a computer
If the monitor is connected to a computer via commercially
available USB cable, the monitor can be controlled from the
connected computer.
Computer connection
Connect the USB ports of the computer and monitor with a
commercially available USB cable (type A - type B).

Caution
• The monitor is controlled via USB Virtual COM port.
Connect the monitor and computer with a USB cable, and
the monitor identifies the port as a COM port when the
main power is turned ON.
The COM port disappears when the main power of the
monitor is OFF, during restart for such as all reset, or when
a USB cable is not connected.
Some communication software may not operate properly if
the COM port disappears while it is open.
This issue may be solved by quitting the communication software
and reconnecting the USB cable or restarting the monitor.
Communication conditions
Set the communication settings on the computer to match the
monitor’s communication settings as follows:
Baud rate 38400 bps Stop bit 1 bit
Data length 8 bits Flow control None
Parity bit None

Command format
When a command is sent from the computer to the monitor,
the monitor operates according to the received command and
sends a response message to the computer.

When inputting a negative value, specify a numerical value in
three digits.

If a command has “R” listed for “Direction” in the
“Command table” on page 28, the current value can be
returned by using “?” as the parameter.

TIPS
• “ERR” is returned when there is no relevant command or
when the command cannot be used in the current state of
the monitor.
• If communication has not been established for reasons
such as a bad connection between the computer and
monitor, nothing is returned (not even ERR).
•
“ERR” may be returned when a command cannot be received
correctly due to interference from the surrounding environment.
Please ensure that the system or software resends the
command if this occurs.

When the following commands are used, “WAIT” is returned.
In this case, a value will be returned if you wait a while. Do not
send any command during this period.
No ID number is attached to WAIT response.

When one of the following commands is used:
RSET, POWR, INPS, LCUF, DMRE, CNM1, CNM2
When USB control is disabled (see page 25.)
