Speakers Surround speakers: Placing the speakers tradeWhen you connect this unit to a DVD player playing a disc with the mark, you can enjoy realistic, powerful sound by playing the soundtrack through 5 channels; the front left, front right, centre, surround left and surround right speakers. The surround speakers should be installed on the wall. Install them 60 - 90 cm (23-5/8" - 35-7/16") above the height of your ears when seated, if possible (see page 10).
Speakers (continued) CD-DD4500 To install the surround speakers on the wall Sharp designed the surround speakers so you may hang them on the wall. Be sure to use the correct type and size of screw, as shown below. 3.2 mm (1/8") 1 Bi-amp system: Each speaker unit has a built-in subwoofer (low frequency range) which is driven separately from the woofer and tweeter (mid-to-high frequency range). Two independent amplifiers which have individual frequency characteristics are used.
Remote Control Battery installation Use 2 “AA” size batteries (UM/SUM-3, R6, HP-7 or similar). Batteries are not included. 1. Remove the battery cover. 2. Insert the batteries according to the direction indicated in the battery compartment. When inserting or removing the batteries, push them towards the ë battery terminals. Test of the remote control Face the remote control directly to the remote sensor on the unit. The remote control can be used within the range shown below: Press the POWER button.
General Control CD-DD4500 1 Demonstration mode 2 The first time the unit is plugged, the unit will enter the demonstration mode. You will see words scroll. 3 4 To cancel the demonstration mode: When the unit is in the power stand-by mode, press the X-BASS/DEMO button again. Note: When the power is on, the X-BASS/DEMO button can be used to select the extra bass mode. To turn the power on Press the POWER button to turn the power on. To set the unit to stand-by mode: Press the POWER button again.
Sound Control Volume control Main unit operation: When the VOLUME control is turned clockwise, the volume will increase. When it is turned anti-clockwise, the volume will decrease. Remote control operation: Press the VOLUME UP button to increase the volume and the VOLUME DOWN button for decreasing. 1 2 .....
Setting the Clock CD-DD4500 1 4 Press the TUNING/TIME (X X or W) button to adjust the hour and then press the MEMORY/SET button. 2 3 Press the TUNING/TIME (X or W) button once to advance the time by 1 hour. Hold it down to advance continuously. When the 12-hour display is selected, “AM” will change automatically to “PM”. Press the TUNING/TIME (X or W) button once to advance the time by 1 minute. Hold it down to change the time in 5-minute intervals.
Listening to a CD (CDs) This system can play audio CD-R and CD-RW discs just as CD discs, but cannot perform recording. 1 2 3 4 Press the POWER button to turn the power on. Press the CD button. Press the 7 OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray. Place the CD(s) on the disc tray, label side up. When loading a third disc, press the DISC SKIP button to turn the disc tray, then place the CD in the open position.

Programmed Play CD-DD4500 By specifying discs from 1 to 3, and tracks from 1 to 99, you can choose up to 32 selections for playback in the order you like. 1 3 Press the MEMORY/SET (MEMORY) button to save the track number. 2 3 Playback order When the track is memorised, “MEMORY” will appear. 4 4 Repeat steps 1 - 3 for other tracks. Listening to a Cassette Tape (TAPE 1 or TAPE 2) Playback is possible in TAPE 1 compartment as well as in TAPE 2. Before playback: Tape Playback – Listening to a Cassette Tape (TAPE 1 or TAPE 2) – For playback, use normal or low-noise tapes for the best sound. (Metal or CrO2 tapes are not recommended.) Do not use C-120 tapes or poor-quality tapes, as they may cause malfunctions. Before loading a tape into the cassette compartment, tighten the slack with a pen or pencil.

Tape Recording – Recording from a CD (CDs) – 3 4 5 Press the CD button and load the desired disc. Press one of the s 1 - s 3 buttons to select the disc to be recorded first. Press the REC PAUSE I6 (I6 I6) button.
Dubbing from Tape to Tape CD-DD4500 1 You can record from TAPE 1 to TAPE 2. For recording, use only normal tapes. Do not use metal and CrO2 tapes. 4 It is recommended that the recording tape be the same length as the master tape. 4 Press the TAPE (1 V 2) button until “TAPE 1” appears in the display. 5 I6 Press the REC PAUSE I6 (I6 I6) button. Dolby Digital When you connect this unit to a DVD player which is playing a disc with the trademark, you can enjoy realistic, powerful sound by playing back the recorded signal through 5 speakers with the sound coming from the front left, front right, centre, surround left and surround right speakers. To listen to a disc using the Dolby Digital mode 1 2 3 Connect a DVD player (see page 35). Press the DVD/VCR button to select “DVD”. Start the DVD player.

Enjoy the Surround Sound (continued) Virtual Dolby Surround Three-dimensional stereo image processing modifies the sound for the 2 front speakers to make it seem as if surround speakers were sending signals, even though they are not actually used. You can enjoy a three-dimensional surround stereo image using just the 2 front speakers. Virtual Dolby Surround – Enjoy the Surround Sound – Surround Operation : Indicates a virtual speaker.
Changing the Speaker Setting You can change the setting as you like. The initial set up was made when shipped from the factory. The unit can be used as it is, straight out of the box. When some of the speakers are at a different distance from the listener, you can select a speaker delay to make it seem as though the speaker distances are the same.

Within 8 seconds, press the ITEM button repeatedly to select the speaker (CENT, RSUR, LSUR or SWFR) you want to adjust. Troubleshooting Chart Many potential “problems” can be resolved by the owner without calling a service technician. If something is wrong with this product, check the following before calling your authorised SHARP dealer or service centre. ● The clock is not on time. Possible cause ● Did a power failure occur? Maintenance CD-DD4500 Cleaning the tape-handling parts Dirty heads, capstans or pinch rollers can cause poor sound and tape jams. Clean these parts with a cotton swab moistened with commercial head/pinch roller cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. When cleaning the heads, pinch rollers, etc., unplug the unit which contains high voltages. Bleu Bleu Noir Noir Attention: Ne pas confondre les bornes MAIN et SUBWOOFER. L’appareil ou les enceintes peuvent s’endommager. Seules les enceintes livrées devront être utilisées avec ce produit. Éviter aussi de les utiliser avec un autre appareil. Ne pas prendre le canal droit pour le canal gauche.
Enceintes Enceintes surround: Mise en place des enceintes , Relié à un lecteur de DVD compatible avec un disque portant la marque cet appareil permet d’offrir un son réel et puissant en reproduisant la piste sonore à travers 5 canaux: enceintes avant gauche, avant droite, centrale, surround (gauche et droite). Les enceintes surround devront être fixées au mur. On les placera à 60 - 90 cm audessus d’un auditeur assis (voir page 10).

Utiliser des vis comme le montre l’illustration ci-dessous. 3,2 mm 1 Système à bi-ampli: Chaque enceinte dispose d’un woofer auxiliaire intégré (basses fréquences) qui est entraîné indépendamment du woofer et du tweeter (fréquences moyennes et élevées). Les deux bandes de fréquences sont ainsi amplifiées séparément pour réaliser un son plus clair.
Télécommande Mise en place des piles Se procurer 2 piles au format “AA” (UM/SUM-3, R6, HP-7 ou équivalent). Aucune pile n’est livrée avec cet appareil. 1. Retirer le couvercle. 2. Installer les piles en respectant les polarités indiquées dans le logement de piles. Essai de la télécommande Diriger la télécommande vers le capteur placé sur l’appareil. La télécommande peut être utilisée dans le rayon illustré ci-dessous: Appuyer sur la touche POWER.
Commande générale CD-DD4500 1 Mode de démonstration 2 La première fois qu’on branche l’appareil, ce dernier entre en mode de démonstration. Des mots se déplacent sur l’afficheur. Lorsque l’appareil est en veille (mode de démonstration), appuyer sur la touche XBASS/DEMO. L’appareil passe en mode de faible consommation et n’affiche rien. Pour repasser au mode de démonstration: Lorsque l’appareil est en veille, réappuyer sur la touche X-BASS/DEMO.

Entretien CD-DD4500 Nettoyage des pièces relatives à la bande L’encrassement des têtes, cabestans ou galets est à l’origine de la mauvaise qualité sonore et de l’emmêlement de la bande. Nettoyer ces pièces à l’aide d’un cotontige imbibé d’un produit spécial en vente dans le commerce. Avant le nettoyage, débrancher l’appareil qui renferme des organes portés à haute tension.
